Thumbs up Is this a good deal? 2005 CrossFire Convertible

2005 black 67k miles, good condition, tinted windows, power everything, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Towing Package, Traction/Stability Control, automatic.

The owner is a mechanic so there isn't any maintenance records per say but only receipts of synthetic oil purchases.

The front headlights have these fog stains? It seems like humidity and dirt had gotten inside. Dont know what to call it.

The asking price is $12,500 with no wiggle room, I tried!

Is this a good deal or not?? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

Generally speaking it's a very good price, but there are too many questions around the condition and maintenance of the car. I have a 2005 Roadster w/44K miles, and no way would I sell it for $12.5K.

The headlight issue is related to moisture getting in the housing of the light. There was a TSB for this but apparently he didn't take care of it. If it was on the outside they could be restored.

here is a red convertible with 6515 miles, in St Louis MO. Don't know about the history - but there is a carfax - 2 owners - lots of photo's. if the link dosn't work it's on Craig's list St.Louis under crossfire.

2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited (only 6515 miles)

Just talk'd to the used car mgr. Mike - he said that it is the part's mgr car and there asking $17,700. they even have it stored in a separate bldg. Call him and offer them a lowball offer.

Yes, if the car is no longer under warranty.

If it will get you into a Crossfire then it's a good deal (even if you have to start at the bottom with BLACK).
No towing package was available so it must have been something they added.

So are ya going to get it!?

What's wrong with black?!

He will not lower the price at all but I might still get it this Friday.

Anything specific I should hear or look for when test driving it??

My only main concern right now is that I don't have a garage. I should probably invest in a all weather car cover, right? Winter is coming and it get rainy around this area.

In my opionion, mechanics are the worst people to buy cars from because they don't like working on their own cars after working on cars all day...They let a lot of things go until they have no choice but to fix them...Case in point, (one of my cars, not the SRT6) but my Sebring sedan, the brakes have been squeeling for months...Granted the brakes are good and not a safety issue...They are just annoying as hell and embarassing at stop lights...I also need to replace the rear shocks...They sound terrible and are totally shot...Now my other Sebring which is a coupe, just has a major oil leak from the front and rear seal...Besides the oil leaks the car runs great and has 241k on it...I don't have the time or desire to work on any of them after I get home or on the weekends...I've even been putting off replacing my IC pump on the SRT6 for a while now...The good thing is, I don't drive the SRT too much any more...I realize every mechanic may not be like me, but I can tell you the majority of the mechanics at my BMW shop hate working on cars after they leave work...All I'm saying is be carefull because you would think a mechanic would take great care of their cars, but unfortunately they don't always do so...I'm not proud of that fact but its true

Let's get back to this towing package. The Owner's Manual specifically states NOT to tow with this car. And when you look at the rear configuration with the exhaust in the center, etc., it would be difficult to add a hitch - it would have to be a custom job on a car that's not supposed to have one. That's the only negative that I can see, other than it's black. But I'd inquire as to what was being towed, how far, and how often.

If you love it buy it. Be careful of 2 things:
1. People will ask why you are always smiling (the perma-grin club)
2. One Crossfire may not be enough, many forum members have more than one.
