Angry Totaled at 8 grand?!

Well.. its seems like my luck as run out, my first accident as a driver and they want to total my baby!! My car was struck on the side by a lady leaving a parking lot. They are offering me $16,300, but id much rather them fix her! It was towed to an Insurance Auto Auction lot for inspection and I think these bastards just want to auction it off so they exaggerated on the repair cost; 8 Grand!! They already have my car up ready for auction once they get the go ahead >:[

I asked my insurance company (Mercury) for a re-evaluation of inspection and they will get back to me in a few days. The main issue is the rear suspension; the tire was bent so it is no longer flush to the ground. I hope they deem it economically repairable.. Im already having crossfire withdrawals lol I think I might have a private inspector take a look at her.. I dont trust any auto auction lot to give a fair inspection.. :/ Advice? Input?? I've added a few pics..

Take the $16,300. Nobody says that YOU can't buy it from the auction. As you well know, it may be a bit of a problem to get replacement parts. Damage doesn't seem that bad, must be something under the car to make the price to repair that high. Too bad, your car is beautiful.

Except it will have a salvage title. Get all your upgrades off or get paid for them.

Buy another- make sure you do. The insurance company is also responsible for taxes & title fees.

I don't think there giving you enough for your car , you need to raise hell with them ,and get another 1000,00 out of them ,let the car go((( if suspention is knocked back as it looks you won't be happy with it ))) and take the money and buy you one with less miles ...and enjoy the ride... I'm just saying THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM TAKING YOUR PREMIUM THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM REPLACING YOUR CAR....

Good Luck

Howard

Take the cash and bid 2,500.00 at the auction. there are still some nice, low milage cars out there.

I thought the state in which an insurance company is filed to do business decides/approves what percent of value is deemed as a total loss. I've never seen one "totalled" at 50% but what do I know. Parts are very hard to come by and if its suspension parts who knows. I find it kind of interesting they put it up for auction before you sign over the title and get your check. I have to agree with AIG, take the check and maybe find another one. I have a buddy selling an SRT for just about that kind of money and this car is in pristine condition.

Airborne,
What year roadster is it (2005)? The only negative is the white ones are hard to come by.

Depending on your state, not everyone can "rebuild" a car with a salvage title.
If you are considering buying it be check it out first. Also have another shop quote the repairs. IMO

hey sorry about your luck. damage from the pics don't look bad at all. i would take what they are offering you and step up to an srt6. they are giving you well over blue book value (depending on what kind of mods you have done).

I would go back to the insurance company and negotiate the totaled value.

If you can get 17,500 out of them then why not take the cash and step up to a SRT-6.

I did just the same thing over a year ago when I was clipped in the front of my base coupe...Totaled. So I went out and searched for a few weeks and ended up buying a SRT-6 coupe for the same price as they gave me for my base coupe. Win-Win situation.

Maybe be a little different for you as I went from black base coupe to black srt-6 coupe...may be difficult, and by that i mean impossible for you to get a srt-6 in white....shame though.

Absolutely !!
Take the money and don't look back
Thats plenty of $$ for a 2004 with 46868 on the odometer.

With that kind of money you can buy another one easily and probably with less miles too.
Might need a few more bucks to get into an SRT roadster if ya fine one.

Either way my best to you and resolving your current situation.

I'm pretty sure I wont be able to bid on it because most likely the auction will only be open to dealers, salvagers and scrappers with a license to bid. I could keep the car and take a cut of the settlement check (not sure what amount that would be) but I would hate to have a salvage title. If only the SRT came in white.. I would be allll over that! Now if I would be compensated for all mods then I would feel better letting her go, all of these things will be discussed if the re-inspection still fails. I just love the white crossfire contrasted with black!
My insurance just called me back, they are going to do a tear down at my mechanic and appraise the damage again, if its still a loss ill just have to fight for more money and pony up for an srt Thanks for all the support.. I can feel the love on this fourm!

I would totally agree if the car was a 04 ,, not for a 05 he needs to recoupe more money for it,
