Re: Totaled at 8 grand?!
This company does excellent work.
I had my Magnum tails tinted there. They do very good work. Completely sand off all molding lines and oem markings then finish them off with tint and clear that is as smooth as glass. (I chose medium tint) They will even do patterns on the tails.

Does a ship and return - you will be without taillight for about week.
I had the Magnum done over winter storage. It is automotive paint to lasting should not be an issue.
Re: Totaled at 8 grand?!
Not true. I know for a fact we will use aftermarket, used parts if the customer does not request OEM. They will guarantee the repair for fit and finish and performance but they can use whatever parts they want. I had my own company tell me they were putting a dash out of a junked car in one of our vehicles because the dash wasn't available. Of course it would be in "new" condition but wasn't new. They ended up totalling the car.
I'm not clear on what is going on with this claim. Did the insurance company inspect the car and total it? I really can't understand why they would put it up for auction before you signed over the title. Legally its not theirs to auction off until you do that. Something seems odd about this one? As I said before I'd take the money and find another car.

Re: Totaled at 8 grand?!
My bodyshop used a new rear 1/4 panel, used passenger door, used bumper skin, new wheel & new taillight. I did not hear that they had a hard time getting anything. They seemed to have a hard time putting it back together & painting it to my satisfaction. Still small things bugging me. I'd go for a new- to -you car. Then u won't have to wonder if its not still screwed up. Glad ur ok, that's the main thing
Re: Totaled at 8 grand?!
Update: The bad news first.. Its going to cost about 12 grand to fix her! These Crossfire parts are EXPENSIVE! lol ok now for the good news.. They are offering me $17,333 for the car, OR $14,081 to keep the car. Keeping the car gives me many options.. I can fix her for a fraction of the cost (with a salvaged title), part her out, or try selling it for a good profit. Im leaning towards keeping the car and money.. What do you guys think? They would let me take my mods out if I let them keep the car as well.

Re: Totaled at 8 grand?!
well, 8k is morethan 50% of the value of the car so most insurance companies would total it right there. If book on your car happens to be a bit higher it can be for many reasons.
1. Price of OEM parts and lack of availability from the dealer
2. Lack of aftermarket OEM parts, no aftermarket companies are manufacturing body parts for our cars.
3. Lack of used parts. Not many dismatling yards other than LKQ seem to have any crossfires that they are parting out.

Re: Totaled at 8 grand?!
I would take the money and then would go and buy it from salvage auction. The only problem you might have is that you should have dealer/ dismantler licence and auction account. I would recommend to use a broker, when you win the auction they will charge you $150 if you pay reg fee and $250 if you don't pay it. Think it's absolutely real to win it for around $5000-$8000. You may watch live sale on www.easyexport.us to see how much they used to go for. As for brokers I know guys who bought from www.easyexport.us www.carfrom.us www.vehbidz.com
