Filed a complaint and went on to file a complaint with NHTSA. This IS a safety issue.

I will try to find someone to do the adhesive repair talked about here. The top itself is in GREAT shape.
Hello,

I logged to this site (which I usually never subscribe to anything like this) because of it's usefulness. I have a light blue 2005 Roadster with 81K on it and the rear window fell out of it (73K). After finding this site and researching so many posts, I contacted Chrysler at this number (800) 763-8422 and they opened a claim. I then went to my dealership in (Santa Monica, CA) and on 11/26/2012 it was replaced. Chrysler agreed to pay for the replacement less a $700.00 deductible (of which I paid). The replacement top was on back order for awhile (a month) therefore I upheld the window while driving around LA with full water bottles. LOL!

Best wishes,

Chrysler stepped up and replaced the roof with the support of the Dealer and a $500 deductible. Keep trying.

I take it you guys had the extended warranty right? I don't. :-( But, in the interim, I did a hack job using Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive Sealant to reseal the edge that was pulling away. So far so good.

Hey Y'all,
I have a 2006 Crossfire that the rear window has now come loose on the left hand side. It was bought brand new in 2007 with only 15 miles on it and now has only 45,000. Has anyone had issues with the 2006 having the rear windows falling out? If so, did Chrylser step up and fix the problem or do I need to file a complaint with the BBB and the corporation? Also, I live in TX when it gets to over 100 during the summer and my little blue ride sits outside.

I had emailed a dealer on a crossfire on ebay.. concerned about the rear window.. it was an 06... his answer.. only the 05's are being covered.. and we all know how well they deal with them.

Exclamation Re: Roadster rear window problem solved?

Greetings to all. Proud original owner '05 Roadster, now 69k mi. Do most maintenance myself. Heard about
rear glass window defect 4 years ago, mine failed May, '13. Dealing with Chrysler Care (?) and so far they
suggested possible partial reimbursement after replacement. Am trying to get an answer to: "why am I
excluded from the X31 extended warranty covering the identical defect of other owners?" Is this not
arbitrary discrimination??" ALL affected owners should open a case with Chrysler AND file a report with
"safercar.gov" ASAP This is a safety issue, not simply cosmetic or inconvenience! Convertible top
material (and the old plastic type rear window) may not last a lifetime, however, the manufacturing process
attaching actual glass to fabric should NOT fail, especially within the 10 year period of the Chrysler X31
warranty. Owners who have paid out of pocket should be reimbursed too! Will keep you posted.

Well after 6 years of ownership my back window separated .Found it after washing the car this morning.I went in found my letter and called Chrysler customer care to see if I was going to get a hassle or not.To my surprise I was told everything is covered and to just take the car to the dealer for repair.I will do a follow up once I have talked to the dealer

Interesting...according to your profile, you don't live in one of the states that's covered by the 'recall'...what kind of mileage do you have on your car?

I wonder why they decided to take care of your issue, even though you don't live in one of the states that's covered?

If I didn't trust my dealer completely I would suspect they are stalling me . My car has been out of service for three weeks since the window fell out completely. Luckily I have a couple other vechicles but they aren't as fun to drive.

Not sure maybe because of this?

Makes no sense, the way Chrysler is choosing who to help and not help...

I believe it has to do with what state the car was delivered new not to where you live now, but I do agree with inconsistent way they honor the warranty. My car was delivered new in Maryland so when my window came lose Chrysler said no it was not one of the 9 states you must live in. I don't have a garage so I couldn't wait any longer so I bought a top and installed it myself. I went to my dealer (who I get great service from) who got involved and got me reimbursed for my total cost $1,045.00. A footnote, my dealer did take pictures of the loose window but it was 2 months to get an answer from Chrysler to the dealer.

I guess my question about this would be if it is the people who did not get a letter are the only ones having trouble getting fixed.Or are there some people who did revceive the letter back in 2011 also getting jacked around.

I see there hasn't been any recent activity in regard to the Roadster rear window de-lamination issue.I am about to repair mine in an '06 for the first time.

I am wondering if anyone has used any of the "construction adhesives" i.e. Loctites PL which is sold at the BB stores? I read that several members have applied the 3M product with some good success.
I have used the PL commercial adhesives in the past with some amazing results; some which I never thought would hold. One example was on a stand-up jetski where the main steering hinge had separated from age. After applying the PL to both sides of the plastic, it held without any problem until I sold it 3 years later.

Mine separated last summer. I have an '06 which is not covered under warranty. I had a high end auto interior specialist epoxy mine. Had to give my LTD up for three days to cure. Was worth it. Knock on wood, it's been over a year and just drove through Springfield MO's horrible storms with sheet rain. Top and window held up perfectly. The RWD was the true challenge of the storms.

I'm glad to hear that yours is holding up well. Did you happen to ask what adhesive they used?
I'm in a warm climate but that can still be demanding on the sealant.
