heh, I was going to be incredibly impressed by the number of responses I got so quickly!

I think the quote goes "Seriously, who Doesn't look good in a convertible?"

I see a lot of numbers tossed around for prices here and wondered if just a flat conversion for exchange rate is a reasonable comparison. I gather that Canadian cars are always a few grand more for various "safety certifications" but wanted to make sure I'm not overpaying my 30% or anything.

Of course, I've read there precious few brand new Crossfires, much less up here in Canada.

Hi there;

Right now a dealer in Ottawa has a black 08 roadster for sale - $35,000. and change. If I recall, the mileage was about 10K. I mused for a bit that it might be cheaper payments for me to buy this one since I am paying 8 percent interest on my current car loan.

I have admired the black roadsters - I would not have to dye my natural red hair so it does not clash with my red roadster!

My Wife and I were out shopping dealerships for crossfires when we happened upon a (great?) deal. I asked an associate if they had any crossfires and it turns out they had just sent their only one to the owner's garage after it had languished on the showroom for over a year. Apparently it's a 2007(08?) black roadster with only 54km (33miles). They agreed to bring it in tomorrow for us to test drive it, and the associate mentioned an offer in the mid 30's (Canadian) would probably be workable.

There are all of two for sale in my city, and about 16 across the province (Alberta). Their prices seem to be all over the range, and there are a few with ~15,000km (9,300 miles) but the thought of brand-spanking new is hard to pass up.

I know everyone here has said the mileage is king, so does this seem reasonable?

Thanks,
I live just outside Toronto and I had to pay $33,000 Can. for an '04 LTD Coupe in '06, it was marked down from the list price of $49,245. They wanted to move it, it had 50km on the clock and I have had no problems with it at all.
I think that $35,000 Can. for the roadster would be at the high end these days. $30,000 would be good. I would really haggle with this guy and not buy it on the first visit, let him get back to you. It is sitting on his lot and he is paying interest on his loan for it every day it sits there.
Tell him you are going to see some more cars elsewhere and you did not really want a roadster anyway, it may not be a true statement but what does he know.
PS, Make sure that you look at all the TSB's and that the car has none of the faults listed, if it does get them fixed.
Get them to put on anti-theft studs on the wheels for free, do not pay for them if they are on there already.
If you have to pay around $35,000 for the car get them to give you the extended warranty Gold plan. It costs them around $1,500 but will charge you $2,000 to $2,500 for it. No under seal or other profit hikers are needed.
I got the extended warranty at cost and had a ruined tire replaced, I hope that is all I ever want but who knows.

Edit:

Well, I just got off the phone with the manager. He said they wanted a refundable deposit to bring the car in (it was currently at the dealership owners house) to show we were serious. As well, he said they wanted 38,000 because Chrysler was offering 37,600 as a write-off, so why would they go lower.

I told him thanks for the time but that's the end of our business.

There's a silver 2008 drop-top with 15,000km for sale about an hour from here. They're asking $33,500CAD, so that'll be the next look.

Thanks for your advice,

Thanks for the heads-up Lesr. Just doing some Autotrader.ca shows a wealth of cars that are $7-10,000 less for the same specs.

I would not be surprised.
There seem to be all kinds of US units at very low prices.
If they are then there are a few dollars extra that may be required to get the car to Can specks.
I just wanted to let you know that there are a number of units locally and I should have said they are all Canadian units.
I would expect that with all dealers they start off high but there would be lots of room to move down when they have that many units sitting on their lot.

I just bought my Crossifre last month, I live in northern BC where there are none to be found so I searched the 4 western provinces and Washington and Oregon. I got a SRT-6. but saw lots of roadsters too. You are right there seems to be no sense in the price range. The Langley dealership mentioned in previous replys is Willowbrook Chrysler and he seems to be cornering the market in Crossfires but his prices are crazy. Best price was a SRT-6 with 3,000 km that sold in Edmonton for $22,900 ! (I missed that one.) I got a SRT-6 with 45,00 km and 115,000 km warranty for $23,00. The Langley dealer wanted $30,000 for their SRT-6 that had 64,000 km and no warranty. When I tried to get him to deal and told him what the SRT-6 that I missed went for in Edmonton he laughed and basically told me to go away. I love my SRT-6 and happy with the deal I got in Edmonton. Guess my point is, if your considering looking what the Langly store is offering, do yourself a favor and to a little more digging

Good points Keff.
Yes Willowbrook does seem to want top price. On the other hand I bought my unit there and offered them book price + 500 on the unit back in July of last year. That is what I paid - Wholesale plus 500 -so they will deal.
Personally while I do not know for sure, I would think that they should be very hungry right now.

Crossfires sound expensive up north. i paid $24,500 US last may for a new 2006 black limited roadster with 16 miles on it. Seems there are plenty of used ones for sale and they seem more afforable than what you have been looking at.

Auto 123 will give you some more options, its a supply and demand market in Canada and prices have remained high, but if we where trading in our Crossfires we would be told that there is no demand

I compared Canadian prices to USA prices, at least in Washinton and Oregon and they seemed pretty close, You have to remember to consider the exchange rate, that has changed about 30% over the last year

And Done!

Bought a '05 Blue Roadster with 45,000km on it last night. Went and test-drove it and what a hoot to drive!

Unfortunately my huge goofy grin undermined my bargaining position, but oh well. Wife and I are going to pick it up tonight (it's about 1.5 hours away).

Pics from the Car Lot:

Thanks all, look forward to everything.
