Default Ok I broke down and bought ANOTHER + questions

It's been less than 1 month since I picked up my 05 SRT-6 w/ 12k on the odo. I've enjoyed the car so much I went out last night and picked up a Crossfire Limited Roadster! Who would have guessed Crossfires could be so addictive?!

It's almost identical to my SRT-6 in the sense it's an 05 with 12k on the odo as well. It's black with black/rust colored leather interior. Very clean inside and out. Apparently the previous owner was an enthusiast because there are "V6" badges on the fenders above the strakes and the rear hatch is de-badged (ie no "CROSSFIRE" logo)- though it looks surprisingly good. Very clean! There is also an aftermarket Mopar rear valance strakes installed. (Wonder if it was owned by a member here?- Last owner resided in the Clementon, NJ area)

My only regret is it's not a 6-spd. The auto isn't bad especially with it's ability to hold the stick to the left to automatically **** into the best passing gear. However I do like the feeling of rowing my own gears. The price was decent for such a clean car though not the best I've found. It was $16.5. I wanted to check out one in Long Island that had about double the milage but had an extended warranty (and a 6spd) for $14.5. However while my fiancee can drive a stick she prefers an auto so we picked it up.

Any idea what the difference in performance the manual is to the auto. I know in some cars the auto actually yields better numbers at the track/strip however I've only seen that from the newest cars. Are there any 0-60/1/4 times comparing both the n/a 6-speed and the n/a Auto?

Also I read about a part (forget the name) that connects to the car to "correct" the electronic communication between the throttle and transmission. Are these: safe, easy to install, and...well, effective?

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE (w/ pics):

Here's the "V6" badging above the side strakes. It doesn't look bad but I think it looks cleaner without it. Besides there's no need to proudly advertise a lowly 215hp V6.

Here's the bizzare little Karmann badge in front of the rear wheel on the driver side. ????

...and here's the partially de-badged rear. I don't know why the previous owner removed the "CROSSFIRE" emblem letters- maybe he/she was ashamed...lol. Regardless it doesn't look bad IMO, very clean.

Your talking about the Sprint Booster I installed one a few years back love the feel of it, as far as installation its not bad just a pain when it comes to removing the washer. If you do a search someone had posted instruction on how to install one.
Good luck with the car.

Yes that's it! So what does it do? Is it safe?

How does it make the car "feel" different?

Is it universal for both n/a & srt Crossfires? Thanks in advance!

So it's not just me! These Crossfires are addictive. I bought a Limited Roadster 3 weeks ago, now have an almost overpowering urge to get a playmate Coupe for it. My wife gets very tense when she sees me shopping them.
Congratulations! For doing what I would really love to do, if I could just find the courage.

It helps that I'm NOT married YET. That's in two weeks! Wish me luck!

PS Ironically enough I shoot weddings for a living: www.GmElliottVideo.com

Btw, did you get an auto or manual for your Roadster? It's eating me up that I didn't hold out for the 6-spd! Though this car is sooo clean and it's the best color combo (IMHO)- Black w/ Rust colored leather!

Please refrain using the term "rust" when refering to these cars.

The color you are calling rust is known as "Cedar" and is an excellent choice with the black exterior. On the roadster, it is awesome, a rare find.

You will miss the stick shift but if you had it, your fiancee' would end up driving the SRT all the time. Leaving you with wimpy.

trust me, I know

Doh! Sorry about that! Yes it is a beautiful color combo- though it was my second choice to this--- white roadster (w/ a stick) w/ white oxidation interior

That car was 2k less in price but about 14,000 more miles than mine. Btw, I didn't know the Black/Cedar combo was rare. Very cool!

Btw, the fiancee can indeed drive a stick. She drove my S2000 with ease, though it's gearbox was nothing short of a dream! On the other hand she DID have trouble with the notchy Mazdaspeed3 manual, w/ TWM short-throw shifter.

First off, congrats on getting married. I'm sure it will be wonderful day for you both.

On a lighter note, I admire your choice of color words for the interior of the car: "rust", "white oxidation"

these are things we, as crossfire owners, take every precaution to avoid. whereas, the interior color combinations are something we promote and stare at endlessly...

you know the ole saying, "where one is good, two is better"

congrats on the xfires.

Well the "rust" description was an honest mistake- while the "oxidization" comment was a straight rib at Franc.

Thanks!

You mean roadster should be manual- and yes I agree. That's the ONLY thing at this point that bothers me about it. Hopefully Rob (Needswings) and/or Anthony (TVT Design) can help me forget about the slushbox in it.

A second crossfire in less than a month, that may be a record. It took me about a year. Congrats and goodluck on the cars and the wedding.

I love the "vanilla" interior, especially with Aero blue. It looks hard to keep clean. My wife, Cathy, almost bought one though. WHEW!
The rust, or red cedar, looks good although many complain that the red steering wheel assembly is "just too much red." I found a cheap black and wood grain wheel cover toned it down just about right. And, it keeps the wheel from getting soiled and wearing.

The debadged boot looks great. I like it.

The Karmahn Badges are after market, free from Karmahn and are a salute to the coachbuilder of your cars. Enjoy, and welcome to the group.

Congrats! That car does look familiar. I'm sure it did belong to a member here. Maybe Valk will remember seeing it in the Daily Crossfire thread.

Congrats and Welcome!
Sounds like you've got the best of both worlds an NA convertible and an SRT.
If people knew how we feel about these Crossfires they would still be buying them.
Hard to believe they have stopped making one of the "COOLEST" car ever.

You can even things up (in the performance department) simply by installing a NeedsWings CAI system. Proven results, just ask Gary (Valkrydrguy)

Unless the guy with the manual installed a NeedsWings too.
