Default insurance question

Last year, I kept full coverage on my Crossfire while it sat idle for a full 5 months. This year I will keep only fire and theft. My question is...how many of you do the same and sneak your baby out for a ride in between?

I finally managed to find a nice used Jeep which will keep my out of the ditches this winter. It's a glossy black and I may try some of my products from my Crossfire care collection to make it look nice at least until the snow and ice hit hard.

Today is an exciting day for my Yankee friends. We canucks are watching with great interest...I hope all goes well.

And other collector car insurers will adjust the mileage (for a price). But it will generally be quite a bit lower than standard carriers.

Mine's classified as a leisure vehicle but with full coverage. The insurance is pretty cheap.

I looked into getting classic car insurance for my older cars and the provisions were just too restrictive.
Main problem was that I could not park the car unattended. If I went to a resturant or a store and left the car and it got damaged or stolen, SOL.

I understand that in some states (Washington) that they insure the driver, not the individual vehicle. That would be great for folks that have multiple cars (17 here). That way you could drive whatever you want when you want. Sweeeet.

State Farm allows me to occasionally take out the car and they reactivate the insurance temporarily. I would never drive without valid insurance the penalty is just too high.

I would never take "Lucy" out when there is salty slush on the roads. Cripes, I can't even get her up the driveway when there is a light snow.

I would never drive with no insurance but I may take her around the block on a fine day if we have some breaks in the deep freeze. Last winter was an exception - it never seemed to stop snowing! If it is like that this year, I am moving to Phoenix!

thanks for the help guys.

I live in Caledon, Ont. and my car comes off the road as soon as the snow comes. It goes back on the road after some rain has washed the salt away. I keep only fre and theft and never sneak her out. The risk is not great but the cost of an accident would be too high and that salt would start chewing away at the undersides of the car. My insurance is for leisure and low mileage. On ice or snow this car would be a handful like my wifes old '66 Mustang was, play it safe.

I keep full insurance all year round. I donot drive the car in snow or in icy conditions. However on a bright sunny winters day if the roads are dry I will take it out for a run. I just can't stand seeing it sit in the garage week after week. Damn that drives me to drink

Not really an option in the UK...and as it's my only car, definitely not an option for me

But then, we don't quite suffer the same winters as you guys in Canada!

Both graphites went into storage on 10/30 -- this is the first year I did not have garage space at home. I keep comprehensive only on them for the winter. In the past, I would drive them around the circle in my development if the roads were dry. So they maybe saw action 2-3 times over the winter. The storage place claims to plow their lot, but they also say the side of the complex I'm on gets icey and they use a lot of salt. If that's the case, the babies may get started a couple times but not driven.

Really bad idea to take it out without coverage. You could get sued and loose everything.

I keep insurance active year round ($545.00) but only go out on dry salt free days in the winter. When I can't take it out, I start it up and let the car completely warm up and drive it up and down the driveway to circulate transmission oil and give the brakes a little workout. That keeps the battery charged and prevents tire flat spots also.
