Blondes, leaky trans, and cupholders...
Hello everyone!
I have been perusing this site for about a month and have decided to get out of the dark corners and say hi. A fun site y'all have here!
My GF has an 05 drop top that she drives like a grandma. 56k on the miles, broken cup holder, (lasted to 55,999 miles), an new meat on the rims. I'm a chevy guy, and hardly fit in the xfire, (6'3" 230 lbs) but what a freakin sweet ride. I don't know if anyone shares this problems, but I feel I'm keeping the commitment to this hot blond to keep the privledge to pilot this cool little black thing. Oh well, it's worth it.
I did a search here looking for a solution to a tranny that likes to leak ATF when it sits for over 4 days or so. The xfire is a daily driver and has no other problems. Can some one give me a pointer to where to find a thread on the topic? I can get under the thing if I set aside some time and peek up there. And, I am handy with a garage fulla tools.
Eric

Re: Blondes, leaky trans, and cupholders...
Welcome! There is a TSB out to fix the leaky trans. Take it to the dealer and have them do it for free. You might even get them to replace the broken cup holder. It was covered under warranty. The cup holder can be replaced with a storage bin if you prefer.
As far as the blonde thing goes, well, I've got the same problem.

Re: Blondes, leaky trans, and cupholders...
I think the leaking transmission is pretty common (maybe not recall common) had this problem on my wife's roadster around 30,000 miles and dealer fixed under warranty and indicated Chrysler is furnishing a different seal plug to correct the problem( contrary to most posts this dealer is great ) even to the extent he advised me to bring in my SRT6 which has less than 8000 miles and if the newer plug is not used already he will replace it before the leak starts and likely out of warranty in 6 more months

Dealer explained that the TSB fix used to call for installing new seals now they are finding that the problem can return.
Now when repairing the leak the "kit" includes new seals and a new style plug.
*edit - for those wanting to know the plug adapter part number is 68021352AA

The "tool" is about $60-$80 (it is a dip stick with different measurements on it)
Miller tool 8863B (about the cheapest I have found)
Next you need a scannner to get the exact temperature of the fluid so you can determine where the fluid level should be located on the dipstick.
(most cheap scanners do not give trans fluid temp)
