Cool dealer visit / evaluation

After my car three times going into "LIMP MODE" and then setting a check engine light I took it in to the dealership here in Austin, South Point Dodge / Chrysler. The service writer was nice enough but when I tied to tell him when and how the issue would happen he cut me off and said the mechanic would find it and did not write a single thing I said down but "The Check Engine Light is on". I told him also while they had it to go ahead and service it and his response was it would be over $100.00 and I informed him I didn't ask just do it. I also informed him not to flash my ECU or dent or scratch my car or engine cover. He called me in about two hours and told me it needed a TPS and they had to order it and it would be in on Thursday (it is Monday) and did I want to leave it or pick it up..hummmm I will pick it up and is the service done and he said it would be ready by noon and he would call me. I called him at 1:00 and not done and called back at 1:30 he was at lunch so I called back at 2:30 nope but he did call me back at 3:00 done. I picked it up at 5:00 and the first thing I noticed was I forgot to ask him not to get grease on my white leather... I checked it out for dents and it was ok so when I drove away and the computer told me I had a high oil level and they did not reset the FSS so I did it.

Well so far I'm not impressed, just not gettin the warm fuzzy feelin. I have done all the calling until today when they called and told me the part is in (a week and a day not three days) and I will take it back tomorrow and when I get it back I will update yall on the service received.

Sorry to hear about your "service" experience. It is to the point where I really dread the thought of taking mine to the dealer, I only did once and hope I never have to again.
At least as long as you have grease on your white leather you may as well let Reeca eat donuts and drink coke in it I'm sorry it's not a laughing matter I'm just bad, Peggy told me not to do it.
Seriously I hope you get it straightened out and back to it's pristene condition.
best of luck
Rick

what do you mean by "limp mode" decrease in power. does it have to do with the tire pressure monitor sensor?

No, it has to do with the engine. If the ECU does not like some information it gets it de-rates certain performance functions including the throttle response so the engine is not harmed, you can turn off the car and restart it and if the issue no longer exists the computer will restore full functions. If you get on an uneven surface and throttle up hard the traction control light will come on and the throttle will become less responsive, this is pretty much what happens in limp mode only there are no lights to tell you what is happening. I hope this helps.

See my post called "service snafus" in this forum. Dealers do the job but they seem to be missing the boat on customer service. My service writer never called me either when he said he would.

Some dealers are squared away and some are not. I bought my beauty from a dealer in Ocala, but get it serviced in Hernando 30 miles to the south. Ocala gives me great deals, but Crystal in Hernando has a first class service manager who knows his stuff and is very polite and listens closely. But even he doesn't get back to me when he says he will call. I blow it off as unimportant because when I do call everything is done, no matter who I talk to...

Glad to see that GM and Chrysler will merge, because the Crystal Chrysler dealership has 4 other branches which handle GM products. Looks like I'm good to go for a while...

Just read an article on the merger and it seems that GM will shed all the Chrysler models that compete with it's own. Plus the reason GM wants Chrysler at all is because of it's cash stash of 11 billion dollars....

OOOOKK ! I dropped her off at 7:00am and the dealership called at 3:00pm and told me she was ready so off I went. Looked her over and no dents, scratches or grease !! Wooohooo ! The invoice says they replaced the pedal assy and removed 1/2 qt of oil and the hi oil level display was off so away I go. All was good until the Hi Oil level displayed again, oh well I can fix that myself.

So what is my take of the dealership? I guess a thumb slightly turned down from middle. Not horrible but no warm fuzzies either.

I had a similar problem when I got my oil changed at the dealer I bought it from...didn't reset the computer and put in too much oil. Service reps would have been nice I guess if they were not so busy. I found another dealer in the area (STL) and all seemed to be very nice people and had no problems with the oil....plus it was cheaper.
