Default What a bad week

This has been the worst week ever for me & the Crossfire.

First, the wife goes to the store and somehow punctures a gallon of milk while it is in the trunk. By the time she gets home over half of the gallon has leaked into the trunk. I have stripped everything out of the trunk, cleaned it with Woolite, then lysol, let it all air dry. Put everything back in and the whole damn car still smells like soured milk. Then today while we were shopping and walking back to the car, I notice that my driver's side lower grille is missing, and yes I had the mesh grille on there also. It's really hard to figure how this happend I don't see any scratches or marks but the support area behind where the plastic grille goes is broken, so it looks like I will have to buy a whole new bumper cover. Guess nows the time to go with the SRT bumper cover. But If I don't get rid of this soured milk odor, I don't know what I'm gonna do.

I would rent a steamer that would spray water and simultaneously suck it back up. You're just spreading the milk around and trying to deoderize it. You will be removing the milk with the steamer method.

Sorry for your bad week. As Chuck said, used a steam cleaner. Also dilute it with carpet cleaner solution with WHITE DISTILLED VINEGAR. You may smell vinegar for a period but it's better than sour milk!

Look at the bright side, now you have an excuse to get an SRT6 front bumper.

Definitely a bummer week. I hope you are able to get rid of the milk smell.

I just thought about the time my wife left a package of frozen chicken in the trunk. It fell out of the grocery bag and she missed it. It was summertime and after about a week the smell was unbelievable. Fortunately nothing leaked out of the package so removing the chicken removed the smell.

Maybe the best answer here is in the future to avoid this kind of thing would be to remove the wives.

I think that when they do stuff like that we should tell our wives how stupid they are. You go first snowtop57 and let us know how it turned out.

And they wonder why there are battered women.

(Please don't quote me in this post. I wouldn't want my wife to see it. She would kick my ***.)

Many, many years ago a buddy and I were coming home drunk from a bar when we found a large dead bass in the road. So we picked it and proceeded to drive around trying to throw it through someone's empty car window. We must have been pretty wasted because the first three cars had closed windows and all we left were fish marks. But the fourth guy made the fatal mistake of leaving his passenger window 1/2 down and won a free fish. It was August, and I sometimes wonder what awaited him when he came out the next day. At least, I hope it was the next day.

Just wanted to tell a story. It was much funnier if you were there...my buddy and I still double over laughing about it. The stupid stuff you do in your 20s.

Did the same thing with a bottle of weed killer in the trunk. chuck is right, the steamer will do it fairly well.

Vinegar is also good but when your done, brush straight baking soda into the carpet and just leave it. Everytime you vacuum the boot, just replace the powder. It will absorb all of the odors.
If you want it to smell sweet, use baby powder instead. I wouldn't use any carpet fresh products as they tend to attract dirt.

My 2 cents.

That is amazing when you consider that a Bass doesn't even have to turn it's head to look both ways before crossing the road.

Looks like some one is gonna get an *** beating from their wife......

Snowtop, if you wouldn't store those Kiss platform boots with the horns on top, you wouldn't have had this problem!

Seriously, good luck with this, I'm sure we'll all have our moments.

That must have been the yearly Holland Michigan Bass spawning run. They come in off of Lake Michigan every August and swim up the streets to spawn in the park. Many, many years ago, I visited Holland to watch them swim up the street. It was quite a site to see. I left my car and went to the restroom in the park to take a whiz and when I returned to my car, some ******* had thrown a bass through my half rolled down window. Now I know who it was.

Thanks a lot Goldwing. PU

I have to admit......that was what I was thinking as well!

On another note.......today I got to buy my 3rd Rear tire in a year. I never pick up a nail in the "cheap" front 18 inchers, always the back 19 incher.

It's because we don't allow the front wheels to have much time to contact the road... hehe. Too much raw HP

Go to your local dive store and get some "Sink the Stink". It's an enzyme thing they use to get the stink out of wetsuits. I had the same experience with a thermos of coffee with cream that leaked in my brand new car (during my minivan days). It worked beautifully & I didn't even have to pull up the carpet.

Good luck.

Oh, I definately told her that & more. Now she won't speak to me. Shoot, if I knew that's all it took I would have said those things a long time ago.

Thanks for the tip, I have a few cousins that are divers, I'll ask them to pick some up for me. I have spread some baking soda around, vaccumed it up after a few days, and spread some more. Either I'm getting used to the odor or it seems to be working.
