Just for our sake, on the Forum, how many miles on your Crossfire, how many and what problems, if any, have you had?

 

Consumer reports is basically for people who have no experience with automobiles and need a basic guide towards a purchase. I wouldn't ever use them for anything, except unless I was looking to purchase a toaster! But I'd still be wary of their recommendations!

 

A few months ago, I bought my first flat-panel TV. A friend of mine who's a store manager for a big electronics chain got me a GREAT price on one. But there was only this ONE brand and model (not discontinued, new in the box) that he was able to get me such a great deal on, compared to the myriad of others his store sells. I accepted the deal based on the brand name alone and otherwise didn't really know what was best or worst (other than knowing I didn't want an off-brand).

After I committed to it, I subsequently found out that this model is/was a CR "best buy" for at least 500 more than I paid.

It's a 50" Panasonic and I absolutely love it. The picture amazes me.

I may not always believe in all CR says, but it is a good starting reference point and I think they hit the nail on the head with this TV.

 

65,000 miles on my SRT6 and only two repairs IC pump at about 35k and the TPMS/Garage door module at 59k. Other than that oil change and tires. Just had the cooling system flushed and trans fluid changes and somehow gained 5mpg hwy.

 

2004 coupe with 30,000 miles.
I put 13,000 miles on in the past year since I bought it.
Car has never needed a shop visit.
Original owner and myself have changed the oil and filters and no other issues have come up.
I rate it a BIG 10 !!

 

Frankly I think they are way over-rated.

 

What I was getting at with my previous post was something Consumer Reports did way back in 1969 when they did a comparison test between a Mustang Coupe, Cougar, Firebird, Camaro, Barracuda, and the AMX. Engines ranged from a 302, to a 350 to a 390.
Since the AMX had the 390, naturally it out performed the lesser engined cars. The H.D. suspension of the AMX actually would rival that of an SRT6, and for the time, it was considered bone jarring. Which C.R. was quick to point out, but then it did out handle all the "Pony" cars that had nearly a foot longer wheelbase. At the end of the article they basically said that even though the AMX out performed the other cars, stopped the quickest, and handled the best, it just didn't measure up because it was too rough
riding and didn't have a back seat. I guess they were totally unaware of the Javelin.
My point is Consumer Reports was compairing "Apples to oranges 40 years ago, and I guess they still are. I don't think it made sence then, and I still don't.
To answer ZERACER's question, in 30k miles, my Crossfire has performed flawlessly. I've only needed a vacuum leak repaired under warranty for the hatch lock, and a 4 year old battery replaced under warranty. I would not hesitate to buy another Crossfire.

 

The 2007 Consumer Report ranks the Crossfire equal to a Chevy Monte Carlo ??????

 

I`VE GOT 3,000 + MILES ON MY 06 BLAZE RED 6 SPEED ROADSTER, BEEN IN FOR LEAKY VALVE COVERS TWICE. SO FAR NO MORE LEAKY, DON`T CARE FOR THE CRAPPY 1-2 SHIFT. OTHER THAN THAT I`D SAY IT`S A 9.5, WITH A BETTER TRANNY AND ANOTHER 40 PONIES 12. MY WIFE LOVES IT, I LOVE IT, PLAN ON KEEPING IT TILL I CAN`T PUSH THE CLUTCH ANYMORE.
