How Good is Black Color
How Good is Black Color
Hi All,
About to pull the trigger on a new 2006 Black roadster limited with Ceder interior. I am not a fan of black but that is all they have left. I had a Toyota Pickup that was black and it was a pain to keep clean.
Was wondering what you all thought of black on the Crossfire? Is it a good paint job?
If you have a black Crossfire how has the color held up?
Thanks in advance.....

Thanks guys. I forgot about the dust, swirl and buffer marks, been 9 years since my last black vehicle.
FP, yours looks just like the one I'm leaning on. Gots a very good deal on a 2006 roadster limited black. Been looking at them for a year now and have been watching this site off and on and the mood changes.
How has the maintenance costs been? That is actually my biggest concern. Getting service. Thank goodness I have a local Chrysler dealer but I wish I knew if they can service it correctly. I talked with the service deparment last night and they assured me there would be no issues.

Re: How Good is Black Color
I just turned in my Black Roadster with the Cedar interior. The car is beautiful in Black but it was my first Black car and will probably be my last. It only had 6,000 miles on it when I decided to turn it in rather than buy it and it was solely for the color that I didn't keep it. I had resigned myself to getting another autostick when the 6 speed supply of '08's was exhausted but then the color choices dried up too leaving basically just Blacks. The car never saw rain in the 3 years I had it but just cleaning off the dust would leave it scratched. The quality of my paint was excellent though as was the quality of the whole car. If you like the Black then definitely buy the car especially at the going prices, they're a steal. One of the finest cars I've ever owned. If you get it though make your first aftermarket purchase the Rotex Gold brake pads. If possible have them change them before you even take delivery. That way you may even just get by with a pad swap. Best money you'll ever spend on the car unless you get joy from cleaning brake dust. Good luck with your decision.

I keep my XF in the garage during the week and it always comes out looking exactly the way it went in...clean!
Someone else here at work drives a black limited XF roadster as a daily driver and he keeps it fairly clean. Sometimes there's some dust on the finish. But from twenty or thirty feet away, it always looks amazing. I believe it's an 05.

As far as the paint job on my Crossfire, I've never seen a better one. Personally I love to keep up the shine on my car. Because of the high maintainence of my black Crossfire I made sure my new Outlook was silver. Much easier to maintain. I didn't want two black cars.
Good luck on your decision.
Re: How Good is Black Color
I have a black Magnum and a black Ram Quad - I just could not face another black car. The graphite made a great alternative.
Also, I would ditch the duster. I started using one and began noticing small scratches on the black cars. A litttle work and the scratches are gone. Now I never dust dry - always use a detailer spray and a high quality cotton terry towel and no more scratching. (micro fiber just ended up holding too much grit)

I'm glad I put this question out there. I have two other colors, gold and blue, that cost more and I'm going to think on it. I was going to pull the trigger tonight dang nabbit...
Still may get the black one as it will be garaged. The price is too good to pass up.

Re: How Good is Black Color
It's a pain with my current black car. I didn't want black again but I plan on sealing it as soon as I get it this week. The deal was just too good--$18,800 off sticker for a new 06 roadster. If it gets THAT bad, I can always repaint it some other color down the road.
I just washed/waxed my old car on Sunday evening and, yes, I can spell my name it already.
