Default Previous Daily Rental with 19,000 miles

How risky would you say it would be to buy a previous daily rental on an 06 Crossfire Roadster? I know how I would drive it if I had it or the day!!!

I guess I answered my own question, didn't I?

Seriously, any thoughts?

Thanks

In all likelyhood, the car would be fine. But I wouldn't do it.

You sure did answer you own question.

I wouldn't be interested unless it would be certified 8 year 80,000 miles.

It's my understanding there were a lot of Crossfires put into rental fleets. My neighbor stopped down to look at mine and said he rented one on his last business trip. He said he loved it.

I think it still may be worth a look.

Take a mechanic with you to check her over as not all rentals are wrecked.

You didn't mention the price. For me, it would have to discounted from a 06 that had been a one owner.

The first xfire I ever drove was a Hertz rental. My 20 minute trip back to the airport turned into an hour and 20 minutes! I was hooked.

Mine was a former Alamo car. Bought it with 9775 miles back in October. It's an 05. Few minor things wrong with it such as seat heater on the back of driver's seat not working but that's a common problem and the dome light isn't working correctly so I'll have that fixed when I get around to bringing the car in. Otherwise, I've put about 8300 miles on it in 6.5 months. No problems.

Caution would be wise.
A rental is rode hard and put away wet.

BUT.....

That's how I drive mine now so other than a possible few more scratches here and there, What would be the difference?

Maybe poor Oil and Lub cycles.

If the price was right, I would go

Talking Re: Previous Daily Rental with 19,000 miles

I am a new 06 Metallic Gray Roadster owner - just getting it licensed tomorrow - my vehicle was a previous rental so I too had doubts! My dealer Lucky Motors in Addison Ill is 2200 miles from where we live in Kelowna BC. so needless to say I was concerned when arriving to pick it up (I had a one way flight to Chicago) When questioning the owner he assured me that he personally hand picks used vehicles from all over the world and would not have bought this car unless it passed his strict inspection. My prize had 6900 miles on it and it has turned out to be a flawless unit> I didn't even drive it at the dealer as it appeared pristinei n every respect(a few scratches on the rims) and I just wanted to hit the road before a snow storm moved in (and yes I did out run it). So I would say it has a lot to do with the integrity of the dealership. I was also concerned that this dealership was not a Chrysler dealer but sometimes that doesn't matter either! The people at Lucky Motors were straight shooters and I am one happy camper!!! What a Great Forum! Thanks-!!

I wish you all the best and happiness with your "new" car. Personally, I would not have given a dealer named "Lucky Motors" a dime of my $. Just my 2 cents.

Not everyone who rents a car beats the hell out of it. Many people rent a car for transportation. Some even rent to see if they like a particular model of car. There's a good chance that this rental was never driven hard but just driven. The Crossfire is a tough car, in my estimation. It would take abuse and come out right on top. You have to ask yourself if you feel lucky. If the price is right and the car is mechanically and cosmetically good, buy it. Just make sure the smile factor is present.

I purchased a 06 xfire from a Chrysler dealer and upon opening the owners manual discovered it had been a Hertz Luxury rental car. It had 16000 miles on it. The xfire was in excellent condition had the remainder of the factory warranty plus the used car inspection and serving. I have had nothing but fun with the xfire. If you can get the xfire with real low miles and remaining factory warranty I think its a good risk. Good luck!!

I bought an '06 previous rental in March with 11k miles for $18,000. Still have the benifit of the remining 36k mile warranty so I didn't worry about it. They are build to last and so far no problems at all. Had my mechanic check it out as well.
