Previous Daily Rental with 19,000 miles
Re: Previous Daily Rental with 19,000 miles
We purchased our 06 with 19,000 miles on it about 4 months ago. We also noticed in our book for the car, that ours was a Hertz rental car. The only problem that had to be fixed was the stereo did not work and it needed a front end alignment. We still have the manufactor warranty on it also. Plus purchased the extended warranty. She has a few scratches on her (but black is not a forgiving color) but outside of that...we love it, it runs great and it's a beauitful car! This is our second rental car purchase and we had a great car on the first one which we traded in for the crossfire. So, if the price is right and you really want it...GO FOR IT! Like others have said...not all rentals are abused.
Thanks!
Thanks!

The idea that a privately owned vehicle would have been treated any less harsh is a fallacy. It's kind of like taking the hook on the lady owned or one owner snag. Lady owned could mean the oil was never changed,...or it could mean the opposite.
You might fare better purchasing from a middle aged person who has the financial means to look after his/her vehicles.
Even color choice can tell a story. A conservative person will seldom ever purchase a red car.
Pay attention to service records, particularly oil change receipts.
Compare tire wear to mileage.
Pay attention if they drove the car in the winter. Cold starts can cause premature wear and tear on the whole car. If they boast they left the car running for 20 minutes to warm it up run! Any educated driver knows that a car warms up more quickly if driven moderately until it reaches normal operating temperature.
Last but not least arrange to have the car inspected from a garage of your choice before purchasing it.
You may pay little more, however, a reputable Chrysler dealer will stand behind their vehicles
Re: Previous Daily Rental with 19,000 miles
I worked for enterprise for 8 years mostly in a nonautomotive division. Still got the discounts and could pick out what I wanted on returns. The lowest cost vehicles had the highest milage on the returns or had obvious signs of abuse.
I always checked them out in person and sometimes paid to have stuff done like brakes and tires. Oil Changes and trans fluids.
I bought these regularlay and found no more issues than cars I bought elsewhere. It's really about checking them out and buying from someone who plans to be open again tomorrow.
Xfires are built to protect themselves. It is hard to over rev the engine and harder still to stress the chassis or suspensions. Get a deal and go for it.
