Default Should I buy a rear windscreen?

I am thinking about a plexiglass windscreen, between the seats. I also see a UK company has a metal
screen. Are they worth it?

If you like to hear after you drive on the xway.

I bought the Mopar windscreen, used the velcro mounting method described by a fellow forum member. Definite decrease in buffeting noise and backflow, but I believe that other members report better results with other windscreens. Mine is strictly for function and easy removal, no etching and no backlighting....though it sure looks great. I'm more intimidated by the wiring requirements due to previous bad experiences messing with stock wiring.

I wouldn't want a metal screen as the idea is to retain what limited visibility we have, while reducing the back flow of wind into the cockpit.

That said, my wife's hair still blows around if not tied back, although significantly less than before the windscreen.

I don't know what "metal screen" windscreen you are referring to. But if it's this one, it's a very strong and durable cloth mesh and works very well! I goes behind the seats, blocks the wind better than the plastic ones and won''t reflect the sun in your rear view mirror.

I bought a inexpensive one
http://www.jaysenoffwindscreens.com/Crossfire.html

it is plexiglass runs outside edge of roll bar to out side edge of roll bar. We had 4 rubber bumpers from another product that when placed between the windscreen and the black hard plastic behind the seats solved the noise from the wind moving it around.

The masking tape used to test placement is still in place in this picture, once removed and bumper was stuck to the wall behind the seat the bumpers didn't show

Measurments of the bumpers. I think any type would work, these are a pretty solid, not mushy, med. hardness.

Time will tell, but so far for $105 we have a much quiter passenger compartment, my hair isn't flying around or cutting my eyes like a razor and we can hear the music and each other.

good luck.

Don't use one. Traded a goldwing on the first roadster. Live in PA (no helmets) got to have the wind in my hair.

Try this one, it's works for me just fine, with your windows rolled up at night.

Thanks, the price is quite reasonable and I am going to give it a try.

Cool Re: Should I buy a rear windscreen?

I tried a plexi-glass one that I got - think it's the one you're talking about - it reduced the amount of travel for reclining approx 1 1/2 inches...too much for me so sent it back - FYI -

I believe the mesh one is probably the one to get but it's too expensive coming over from Europe...

I bought a Wind Restrictor http://www.dynamicautoconcepts.com for my SLK that was a full size one that went all the way across both roll bars and I absolutely loved it. Then when I got my Crossfire Roadster I purchased one but because of the curve of the back panel it only covers the area between the roll bars. Not quite as good at removing the wind from the back of the neck, but oh does it look good.

So then I decided that I absolutely had to have a custom one. My other ones were lighted but this time I also got the optional brake light/dimmer control. I will be installing it this weekend.

I love the looks of these things and they are very high quality. I get positive comments on them from just about everyone.

Sheldon

Thumbs up Re: Should I buy a rear windscreen?

We get people all the time writing in about their ripped net windscreens. they function very well until this happens. After that there is no use for them.

Ours are made from a 3/8" abrasive resistant material with beveled/flame polished edges. Also, we place the bend to the rear of the roadster on ours to maximize the reduction of wind turbulence and reduce glare as well....

Please check our ebay listings from seller windrestrictor_incorporated or feel free to use our forum discount code also.... preferred10

You can personalize your Windrestrictor with real high quality laser etching and there is the optional illumiation for that extra WOW factor on your roadster...

You are getting great mileage out of the picture i authorized for use in your advertising...
My only criticisms are that the lights are a little too bright for nighttime driving, and the plexiglass is hard to keep clean. Along with the etching and edge illuminating, so does every little smudge or smear....The nature of polycarbonate

We have the Windblox and it works great. Easy to put on and off. I liked the look of the smaller ones but you really need to stop the air from coming in thru the hoops if you want your blocker to be effective.
