Default Cleaning those wide wheels all the way through

Not having much success on a method to clean the wheels. I'd like to develop a tool and chemistry that would let me get rid of the crud that the road and brakes lay down on the inside of those wide wheels. Can't get my hand between the spokes.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Once every couple of months, I take the wheels off. It's not that difficult and well worth it. I soak the insides with wheel cleaner and then use a soft scrub brush or pad to remove the excess grime. I then dry and add a couple coats of premium wax to all surfaces. This also gives me a chance to clean the calipers and suspension components. Not an easy fix, but then again, I don't usually take shortcuts.

Those of us on the taller side can just reach around the wheel and get in there and clean. Not the easiest way, but it works.

Just be sure to do the wheels first, it's not much fun to do when the ground is all wet.

When I initially bought the car I took the wheels off and cleaned them spotless on the inside and out.
Then I coated them with a wax.
Now for the past year once a month I simply jack up one wheel at a time and lay under the car and turn the wheel as I clean it on the inside just using a wet towel. Done. Looks fine.

Buy yourself a narrow long brush. I actuality use an old California duster (the one for the interior). It's long and narrow and lets me get in all the way and clean the wheels every time I wash my car. It works well with practically no effort.

You might want to get some Rotex Gold brake pads to cut down on the dust.
I take the wheels off, clean and wax them inside and out at least once/year.
Meguiar's makes (or used to) a wheel brush that also works pretty well at getting back there.

And if that doesn't work I have them professionally detailed like this.

i used the .25 car wash ... with a flexible wand and hot soap/water... this did the trick to the wheels, wells & the underside.

this is something you have to keep up on... if not you may have to use a general degreaser to get things back in check...

after washing... i will use some quick detailer & a microfiber towel (i have smaller hands) to complete the job on the inside of the rims... of course the rotex dust free pads also aid.

.25 cents? Andrew do really only pay that? It's $2.00 by me.

When I dont remove the wheels I use a paint mixing stick with a rag wrapped around it or stuck on with velcro if I am ambitious. Works great and is thin enough to get between the wheel and brake.

I prefer the professional method. The job on the backside is awesome!

I've used this professional detailer myself. Usually the cleaning of the detailer when finished is where the real work begins.

I bought an 1,800 psi pressure washer recently to redo the deck...I think on the low pressure setting...I can put a pressure washer safe detergent in the tank that is specifically for autos...If the temp ever warms up in KC...I'm gonna try to crawl under & spray from the inside out. High setting would probably damage the paint on the wheels???

I don't think it would. I prefer the higher pressure and manage how close I get, depending on the amount of crud. I have a 2,100 and use it full force.
