Default Light sentinel

An option I have on another car that I wish my Crossfire had is the light sentinel. This is where the car automatically turns the headlights on during the night and off during the day. I’m sure Chrysler, or Mercedes, offers this feature on some of their other cars (meaning the parts are available). My question is this. Has anyone ever put this feature on their Crossfire?

I too would like this feature. For such a nice car, I'm surprised it doesn't have it...

One would think that would have been standard equipment for a car such as the Crossfire. Yet again, my Dodge Ram Quadcab Laramie Editon pickup doesn't have that feature, which I found very odd. It's a $40,000 truck with the fancy interior, heated leather seats, etc. and the headlamps do not come on automatically. Go figure...

Since no one has looked into it, I will. I just didn't want to duplicate work that was already done by someone else. I tried doing a search on the topic with no success.

Since these cars are basically the SLK230 revamped, they didn't change the operation of the headlamps. I owned a 1999 MB and they didn't have the auto headlamps back then.

Used to have it on my Vette. Was a pain in the butt. Lights went on before I pulled out of the garage or even when I went into a covered parking lot. There was no was to adjust the sensitivity. Better off without it.

Exactly right. The manufacturers seem to think we're too dumb to do anything for ourselves. Next they'll have computers driving the cars for us, too. Oh, wait, they're already working on that....

I have this stick thing on the console that I have to push around and a third pedal on the floor. The car makes bad noises when I don't move them in the right sequence. You'd think Chrysler could figure out a way for these cars to shift for themselves. I think my parents had an old Buick that could do that.

LOL I rented a Chevy HHR a couple of years ago and became very annoyed at the light sentinal whatchamacallit. On an overcast day, stuck in stop and go traffic, the damn lights came on every time I crawled my way under an overpass on the freeway. I would emerge from the underpass and the lights would shut off. I'm sure the guy in front of me thought I was a total idiot. Took me a little bit to figure out what was actuallly going on as I didn't realize this vehicle was so equipped.

Funny the things we want our cars to do for us, as we aren't capable of determining when we should or shouldn't turn on our lights.

I prefer usefull things, like the car knowing you had the lights on while driving so when you reach your destination, turn off the engine and exit the vehicle the lights come back on for a brief period to illuminate your way. It's as if the car is saying "hey, I know it's dark out, let me help you get from me to the house safely."

My 500 has it. It sucks, totaly useless. It has an override button that I now use. Plus it uses the mirror for the sensor and it is $800 when it breaks.
