Seems to be a fairly common issue. If you are under warranty, the dealer should replace it for you.

My car has the issue of the tape being faded on the part that is visible when the roof is closed. The car sat in dealerships and on lots for almost two years before I purchased it last July (it's a 2005 model). The car is still under warranty - think I'd have a problem getting a dealer to warranty the part?

It can't hurt to asked because some people have had it replaced under warranty. Thats if you trust the dealer you use to replace it.

Mine has the same issue and I've tried everything to fix it. I've wondered if it's better to leave as is or asked the dealer to fix it.

Mine's faded and peeling. '05 roadster. Tried armor all and it didn't work to restore the color. Heard back to black doesn't work too well either but someone on here said to use black wax shoe polish and that works for a while. Haven't tried it yet though.

I used a product for black areas on cars that's like a shoe polish (I don't remember the name offhand). I masked off the paint with blue tape and applied three coats. It's better but not like new. When the top is down it's very noticable that one side of the tape is darker than the other.

follow these steps....clean tape with rubbing alcohol..apply 2 or 3 coats of Turtle Wax Ice to tape ....this product will not leave white residue on tape and is great for your paint as well. this worked well for me. Hope it helps you.

This tape is called Scotchcal film, and is made by 3M. Perhaps you could check with 3M and see if they have ay suggestions on how to prevent the fading. I believe the Mopar part number is 1-05104937AA
