I didn't understand your question at first.
I imagine it is for structural purposes. Does the SLK look similar in that area?

BTW - the Solstice/Sky tops are horrible. I have old t-shirts that look better.

Honestly....The Solstice/Sky tops look like they were an afterthought.

The rest of the car looks pretty good.....they just gave up on the top!

It always reminds me of a tent!

OK, the thick part your refer to houses the mechanical components that lock the roof. The latching mechanism. The two rectangular recess parts can be removed by the technician to access these parts.

Yes. I thought the top of the windshield may look similar - but it does not.

Hi Guys,

My opinion, the rectangular edgings were designed for safety purposes. crumple and collapse to prevent major head injuries in a collission. The thickness of the bar is for structural rigidity.
