Default Very happy with the gas mileage!

I filled up the XFire yesterday before I left for a day trip to Newport RI. I always reset the trip mileage with every tank to get a rough idea how I'm doing mileage wise.

I got 24 mpg off the last tank which was mostly around town driving accompanied with a 50-60 mile round trip to Narragansett Bay. Trust me when I tell you I wasn't trying to drive economically. I had my foot into it quite a bit because that's all part of the fun of driving one of these great cars. My Hemi Ram only does 13 mpg, and my bride's Envoy hovers between 15-17 mpg depending on the type of driving. You can see why I'm pleased with 24 mpg at today's prices.

How does my gas mileage compare to yours, and what type of driving do you normally do?

I was averaging between 23 - 25 m/gal till I installed a Sprint Booster in my ride. Now I average 22 - 24 but you won't hear any complaints from me !

Just my Dos Centavos ~!~

I'm curious about the extremely small drop in mpg. Is it because you have a tendency to accelerate harder for the enjoyment of it all, or does the sprint booster just reduce your mileage by 1 mile per gallon even if you don't change your driving habits.

The sprint booster does not affect gas mileage. Supposedly it is more fun to put your foot in it when you have one.

Thanks for the replies! I really enjoyed Stogey's "just habits" remark.

I didn't think buying a XFire with only 6000 miles on it would lead to modifications. Maybe I was wrong in that assumption.

My 06 was purchased new last April. Until the cold weather set in around Jan. I got 26 mpg on every tankful consistently. With the winter blend of gas I get 23 mpg every time. I have a lil Grandpa's Mustang 4 cyl 1993. I can squeeze 24 in summer & 20 in winter. Both cars get around town driving. The Mustang is auto, whereas the Xfire is stick. Very pleased with my mileage too, since the Xfire is about 75 more h.p. & two extra cyls!

Ya better get out there and burn up that old gas.
It's time for a new tank of 93 octane.

With 26k on the odo, I regularly get 26-27 on the highway at 75-80 (with occasional bursts to 90-100 because I can't resist) and 28-30 on the backroads at 55-60. Now, one day I did come back from Detroit following some bear bait for 90 miles (which took less than an hour), and when I filled it I calculated almost 27. I think that was because I over-filled it before I left Detroit.

Honestly, I rarely drive just around town.

I'm approaching about 5k on the odometer and I get anywhere from 22 - 25 mpg with mixed driving using only premium gas.

What I would like to know, is if everybody is using premium w/ or w/o an additive or the next grade down w/or w/o an additive?
