TeleNav, traffic and GPS on cell use?
TeleNav, traffic and GPS on cell use?
Question: Anyone experienced with using a cell phone-based GPS with subscription to traffic service, that supposedly then accesses voice turn by turn?
Just bought a GPS-enabled Blackberry 8310 using GSM towers (ATT/Centennial-Midwest). Communicates great with satellites to give maps and directions like Mapquest, zoom in and out. Plus, little arrow moves along on 2D map just like I do on road.
To go vocal, TeleNav is one service recommended at $10 per month (they have a 30 day trial I may try). I think that also opens up potential for points of interest in addition to traffic.
There are other services with other GPS-dedicated units, like Microsoft Direct for Garmin, and TMC, but I don't know yet if they are accessible independent of those units/manufacturers, and there may be other providers....
Thoughts? Advice?

Re: TeleNav, traffic and GPS on cell use?
Now you are speaking my language. I am a sales manager for Alltel (not gsm) but I do own and operate bbs all day long. I have telenav on my bb and to be honest its worth 10 bucks a month. One thing though. I do use google maps to search for the businesses and then type it into telenav for turn by turn. The great thing about bb is that it is a true gps reciever not some stupid triangulation. They did make 3 different curves though for gsm. So if you go over to blackberryforums.com and look they can tell you whether or not yours has it. One had wifi and one had the gps, but if i remember right the one with wifi is an 8320. So good luck. I really like my telenav.
Hope this helps if you have anymore questions pm or email me. I can talk about this all day. Also I am a member of that forum same username. Dont mean to advertise a different forum on here, but they are way different topics so hopefully i wont get banned or something.
