Default Installed Lighted wind restrictor...

I just installed my (blue) lighted wind restrictor...

I just figured out how to upload photos..Here it is

I had the option to hook it up to the brake light or running lights. I chose the running lights.

I'm now thinking it may be too bright to have it illuminated 24/7 and when lighted, appears to restrict the ability to see out the rear view. (It hasnt been out of the garage yet)

Can others share their expereince and hook up.

Thanks so much.

I have mine hooked to the tailights and didn't like the reflection/light while driving. I left it hooked to the
tailights but now also have a switch mounted between so I can shut it off on long trips.

Thats a good idea....I wasnt looking forward to the idea of unhooking it and re-wiring...Leaning over the trunk lip isnt much fun.

So do you still drive with it on occasionally?

It is sleeping for the winter so I dont know how much I will use it next year. I only had it installed for the last month I drove it.
I have the switch mounted in the bulkhead behind my seat.

I did the same, hooked it up to my taillights, bought the switch offered and drilled one hole up in the corner behind the drivers seat. It's a little tight working in there but pulled a little wire and it hooked up real easy. It is bright with the top up so I run it both ways depending on my mood.

Same here, installed to the lights as you did, added a mico swicth behind the passenger seat in between the carpet and plastic trim to turn on and off. You can pull the plastic strip off with the LED's and de-solder a couple of the LEDS as well. If you look in my gallery I have a picture of the LED switch and where is mounted.

........ Thanks for the advice

In reading this post Keep in mind that that I am a new owner and that my car is sitting in my garage unregistered. I havent been able to drive it yet, not to mention the snow.

I discovered t the wind restrictor light is really bright while the parking lights are on. However, they dim considerably with the running lights on.

I have a dumb question....With the key out of the ignition does your brake light go on when you depress the brake peddle? Currently it appears i have to have the key on. Is this normal or do I have a possible wiring problem?
Thanks for all your help

I installed mine and also wired it to the rear driver's rear light, and added a switch to turn them off when my top is up. They won't turn on when pressing the break, unless you wired it that way. You can also add a dimmer to make to dim it to your taste.

I have my windscreen hooked to my lights. When they are on, it's on. Yes, it's bright with the top up and in the pitch dark, but it's fine once I start driving and I can see just fine out of my rear window...backing up is a bit tricky..hence, I'm having to replace my side mirror..that's another thread...

I have the switch to have a dimmer switch installed and/or have it hooked to my brake light so it will illuminate more brightly when the brakes are on. I love this illuminated windscreen...when the top is down and the lights are on, it's a true show stopper...I only have to wait 5 more months or so for that to happen...unless we get a heat wave in Seattle!

I do believe with the key off the brake lights dont work and the horn doesn't blow. Not sure though as like you mine is put away.

I have my Windrestrictor wired to a hot 12V line and have a switch mounted behind the driver's seat to turn the leds on/off. I have control over when the leds are illuminated and prefer it that way.

Top up or top down, it looks great. Nobody will mistake the fact that the car is a Crossfire (assuming that you have the Crossfire script etched into the Widrestrictor).

So much for dimming when the headlights are on.........The top wouldnt retract and I muddled around thinking the partition was out of allignment....It turned out the battery was depleted..That would explain the led's dimming when the lights went on. I'm such a putz sometimes.

Now if only i could learn how to upload pictures not that I'd be posting anything new.

What caused your battery to loose charge?

I just went out to the garage and checked this out. I learned another thing I was unaware of. The brake lights and horn do not work when the ignition is OFF.

With the light on I wonder if people ever think...."Hey look at the Smurf driving the cool car"

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but have a question. Has anyone ever been given a traffic ticket running the lights on the wind restricor? I have a blue roadster and ordered the blue lights, just too cool until I remembered Texas law: bed, amber, and white lights only visible from the back of the vehicle. I asked the local chief of police (my neighbor) about the blue lights. He told me that it would only be a matter of time before some cop, somewhere would hassle me and write a ticket for it.

Has anyone had a problem with this, or were they smart enough to order different colored lights, lol.
