Angry Help!! top stuck

I need some help on this one guys. I have been working on wiring in my new wind restrictor tonight. In this process I have had to get to the wiring in where the convertable top goes, so I have had it in the half up and half down position. Every 10 minutes the buzzer would go off and the tounnea (sp) cover would automatically close. (That was interesting the first time when I was in there working on running the wiring, lol) The last time this happened when the back of the top came down it did not latch into the deck.
Now I can't get the top to do anything (the console switch light stays on red/ solid), I can't get the trunk to open. So I am totally screwed. I have read the manual, it tells me the back of the top is not latched, but not how to fix it. I have tried turining the car on / off several times. Trying to lock and unlock the doors several times.

HELP ME IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE

Can you manually raise tha back of the top and then the decklid, manually drop the top in its lowered position and then close the decklid? I think that would reset the hydrolics and the switch so you can get it to operate again.

I had exactly the same experience when I installed my Windrestrictor a couple of days ago. It is a pain in the rear. I almost had the deck cover collapse on my head, but the top was collapsing at the same time the deck cover and they held met in the middle and held each other up (no good way to explain this deal....you just have to experience it).

To correct the situation, I manually raised the deck cover to the verticle position (same as before it started to collapse when the system lost pneumatics or whatever) and also raised the top as much as I could. I then hit the open/close switch (I forgot whether the switch worked in the open or close mode) but the top and deck cover operated normally and everything was fine. I did this several times until I finished my work with the wiring above the driver's side wheel well. However, my deck cover never totally collapsed, so I was able to raise it back to the verticle position.

Hey, it was worth the effort the lighted Windrestrictor is about as cool as it gets.

Thumbs up Re: Help!! top stuck

You are correct. I had to cool down long enough to post my message, pour myself a double Crown on the rocks, and play with it again. By playing with it I discovered that the deck lid would raise up and I reset the latch with my fingers and it all went back together like it was supposed to.

Thank you for the post, you verified that I did it correctly and didn't screw something else up.

I love this site, it's all about freinds helping friends.

What? I thought only northerners drank Canadian Whiskey.
I prefer Jack or Jim myself, probably due to my southern roots.
Either way, whiskey can sure help clear your mind.
Glad you got it all figured out.

It is great to hear that everything worked out for you. All is well that ends well and I hope you like your Windrestrictor. I know I was questioning my wisdom when the deck lid initially collapsed....lol

What color leds did you opt for? I have the red, so I changed my dome lamp bulbs to red leds to match the Windrestrictor color. It really looks neat in the cabin with the red reflecting on the silver center stack and the green illuminated dials and switches.

I thought all Texas drank Crown Royal, it's oh so smooth, lol.....

I did finally get it installed today. I have to call them back on Monday as there is a problem with the brake light module. I can get the brake light side of it working fine but have nothing on the running light side. I have power to the module connection so guess something is wrong with it internally. I opted for the blue led's as my roadster is blue, but as I drove it around tonight I wondered how long it would take for the cops to start hassling me about the blue light.

Where did you come up with the led colored dome lights? I think that would look pretty cool.

I bought the dome light leds from - www.autolumination.com

I ordered two 194 T10 wedge base 4 led red lens lights. The two leds were $7.98 + $3.50 shipping. There are threads on this forum where others have used different leds/colors that you can look up for information. Autolumination also sell a six led light that may be better than what I have as it would project more light. I may opt for the six led lamps one of these days.

I'll look into the hassle question as I also live in Texas. The only colors that may be problematic are red or blue. I'll let you know what I find, but I don't believe the seller of the Windrestrictor has had any feedback regarding legality and they are a Texas company. Blue may be fine as long as it isn't a "flashing" light.

I tied my leds into a hot 12v line thru a switch. That way I have control over when the lights are on or off. That works best for me.
