Question Car to be stolen?

Do any of you think that the Crossfire is a car that thieves might like to steal? Since I have had mine (Nov. '07) I sometimes worry that the Crossfire might fit into this category. What do you think? I am hoping not. I can't worry about such things and plan on driving my roadster just for the pleasure of it.

Personally, I don't think it will be a target. Too few on the road. If a stolen report comes in and they are on the road with it, it will be pretty easy to spot.

Yea I agree with SRT SIX. Generally the most sold cars (i.e. Camry's or Escalades) are the most stolen (for parts). These cars are too stylized or recognizable. Not saying it won't happen, it's just not likely.

not enough interchangeable parts, either.

vehicles on the most stolen list have likely been in production for 5-7 years and share parts with multiple models.

If they are going to steal it, I wish they would hurry as the Blue Book value is higher now on my car than what I paid for it.

i'm sorry ... but did you check it just now ? it dropped a few grand a few minutes ago !

there is one for sale for a bit under 10k at one dealership here ... a limited coupe with 48k ... and trade in values offered by dealers have ranged from 6 to 9 k on both mine (under 10K) and my brothers (under 45K) ...

prices on this thing are dropping faster than anything i have ever witnessed ... that includes most imbezelment dramas in recent years.

shockingly i go out to the garage and the car looks the same and drives even better than the day i bought it ... lol

I just purchased the SRT6 from a Chicago dealer. Some freaking moron tried to break into the car by prying the doorhandle off, leaving a nice dent underneath it and a broken handle. Did about $500-600 damage.

There are a$$holes who steal cars for profit/parts and a$$holes who steal them to go joy-riding. Any car/owner can be a victim.

On the other hand, I worked in Dearborn MI for two years. I always parked my car under the hotel awning (I was a frequent guest and security kept an eye on it - even moving their patrol car so I could park there) or where I could watch it from a restaurant window. Maybe I was overly cautious, but I never had a problem.

I agree with you. We must look out for CAR-JACKERS!

if anyone tried to car jack mine I would gladly offer it to him, no problem there, they are a dime a dozen and insurance will always get me a new one, I'll just be sure to give the thief a 30 minute head start before reporting it slolen , lol

Since you have a roadster you'll want to take the extra precaution of NEVER leaving anything valuable in plain sight since the cheap crooks will just slice your top open and grab what they see laying about. All too often I see cars parked in lots with aftermarket GPS units still stuck to the windshield or even a digital camera sitting on the front seat. A sharp knife and 20 seconds work and these things are gone. Replacing a $500 GPS device or a $250 digital camera is cheap and easy compared to replacing the top.

Dealer's for the most part don't go by Blue Book, they go by their "black book" I've found (NADA). Not as "generous"

Will agree with the others, car not a likely target. This is my 6 convert - I rarely lock the car, never leave anything of value in the car -if it's not locked they won't cut the top. If a thief wants your car - it gone
in 60 seconds. If it's a joy rider - I probly don't want it back after they have screwed it up. As for cars that no one wants - Long time ago I left my 74 Alfa at the Cleveland airport with the door ajar and the keys in it, came back 10 days later and there it was. took forever to get that 1 sold

Don't forget, there are quite a few interchangeable parts for the Mercedese. Even though there are not many Crossfires, another irony is, even though the value is dropping, replacement parts are verrryyyy expensive. Tempting for thieves. More value in parts than the whole.
