Car to be stolen?
Car to be stolen?
Do any of you think that the Crossfire is a car that thieves might like to steal? Since I have had mine (Nov. '07) I sometimes worry that the Crossfire might fit into this category. What do you think? I am hoping not. I can't worry about such things and plan on driving my roadster just for the pleasure of it.

there is one for sale for a bit under 10k at one dealership here ... a limited coupe with 48k ... and trade in values offered by dealers have ranged from 6 to 9 k on both mine (under 10K) and my brothers (under 45K) ...
prices on this thing are dropping faster than anything i have ever witnessed ... that includes most imbezelment dramas in recent years.
shockingly i go out to the garage and the car looks the same and drives even better than the day i bought it ... lol
Re: Car to be stolen?
I just purchased the SRT6 from a Chicago dealer. Some freaking moron tried to break into the car by prying the doorhandle off, leaving a nice dent underneath it and a broken handle. Did about $500-600 damage.
There are a$$holes who steal cars for profit/parts and a$$holes who steal them to go joy-riding. Any car/owner can be a victim.
On the other hand, I worked in Dearborn MI for two years. I always parked my car under the hotel awning (I was a frequent guest and security kept an eye on it - even moving their patrol car so I could park there) or where I could watch it from a restaurant window. Maybe I was overly cautious, but I never had a problem.

Will agree with the others, car not a likely target. This is my 6 convert - I rarely lock the car, never leave anything of value in the car -if it's not locked they won't cut the top. If a thief wants your car - it gone
in 60 seconds. If it's a joy rider - I probly don't want it back after they have screwed it up. As for cars that no one wants - Long time ago I left my 74 Alfa at the Cleveland airport with the door ajar and the keys in it, came back 10 days later and there it was. took forever to get that 1 sold

Don't forget, there are quite a few interchangeable parts for the Mercedese. Even though there are not many Crossfires, another irony is, even though the value is dropping, replacement parts are verrryyyy expensive. Tempting for thieves. More value in parts than the whole.
