Check engine light and blinking low fuel light
Check engine light and blinking low fuel light
So twice before in the twelve months I have owned the 2005 Roadster, my low fuel light has begun blinking. Both times it went off in under 2 minutes. Tonight I was driving and the check engine light came on and stayed on, meantime the low fuel light is blinking. Has anyone has this happen to them? I cannot fathom a reason the low fuel light would ever blink. Also, I only have 24,000 miles and the check engine light is on! The fuel cap is on securely. When I turned the car off and restarted, the check engine light came on and not the low fuel light. Could this be a short? Any input is appreciated!
Re: Check engine light and blinking low fuel light
1st step is to go to auto zone and have them read the error code from the OBDII system. They will do this for free, this will help in figuring out the problem.
I think your instinct was right on checking the gas cap, but the OBDII will give you a more definitive answer.

Re: Check engine light and blinking low fuel light
The same thing just happened to me yesterday morning. I only have 11,000 miles on mine. I'm bringing it in to the dealer next week to get checked out, along with a couple other items I've been meaning to get checked out (i.e. wind noise, trunk rattle, squeaky windows). While I'm there, I might also get my service b done. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Check engine light and blinking low fuel light
Does anyone know what causes this? I have the low fuel light blinking on my 2005 Coupe in the same manner you have but no check engine light. I'm driving along and all the sudden it comes on and flashes for a few minutes then goes out. The tank is full of gas at this time. It's happened 5 times in the last month and I've had it in and out of the dealer each time. They are telling me there is nothing wrong and obviously there is. Help??
Re: Check engine light and blinking low fuel light
I've been plagued by the check engine light as well. 40K miles. The dealer says the "secondary air pump" has gone out. (Service manual says it has something to do with exhaust/catalytic converter/emissions). So they replace that and not 8 hours after I've gotten the car back the light is back on. I take it back and all they do is reset the light. Its on again now. Any ideas? Any one ever have any trouble with this part. This dealer is hardly competent on this car, they've pretty much told me so... I only have 5 months left on the lease but I don't want to stare at the light for that long...
