How cold 'til you put the top up?
Re: How cold 'til you put the top up?
After a long winter, during those first few days of spring with full sun, 48 - 50 degrees F is the coldest @ 50 - 55 mph
The wind restrictor seems to help keep the chill off. I found It was almost better for back draft with the windows down.
It might be a different story with wifey aboard.

Once I pull it out of winter storage the top stays down untill it gets to hot. If my wife rides along she never wants it down.
I can take the cold but can't stand over 80 and sunny. It never leaves the garage if rain is forcast.

I admit I'm anxious for a some top down driving, but I'm willing to wait until it's a wee bit warmer. Plus there is so much sand and salt on the sides of the road, I'd rather keep the top up than fill the interior with that kind of dust and dirt blowing around. I guess if we get a real blast of warm air on a sunny day, the roof will be out of sight.

I had the top down in about 45 degree weather. I like brisk ride. It makes me feel alive. But it does get a little chilly on the ears. That was a few days ago. Yesterday it was 60 degrees and the top was down. I went for lunch from work and had to take a scenic rought because I thought that it was to nice to go right back. It reminded me why I bought the convertable

When I drove to Buttonwillow last October the temp was right around 70 when I left my house, top down of course. While climbing the pass known as the Grapevine along the 5 Freeway north of Los Angeles the temp dipped to something like 51 or so. Well, I was wearing shorts and a short sleeve T-Shirt and doing 80mph and I wasn't about to pull over on the freeway just to raise the top. So I rolled up the windows, turned on the seat heater and cranked up the heat until I dropped down on the other side of the pass. I was surprised at just how comfy I was through that stretch.
Re: How cold 'til you put the top up?
Since my droptop is in for the 10th time to repair the "top not going down". I was talking with a mechanic about it (parts on order) he said Chrysler told him that the top would not go down if it was to cold, I guess the stories here refute that "theory".
The dealer has gave it the "old school try" .... we are down to replacing the top control computer and a power switch. The funny part of the story is, they exhausted my rental car time and decided to give me a new Dodge Caliber to drive in the mean time. So I go to pick up the car with all of 18 miles, stick the key and notice no lights or anything .... the battery was dead, I just had to laugh. We jumped the car off and down the road I went. Let me tell you, the Caliber is no Crossfire, not even close.
When the top did/does work I have no problem with wearing shorts, t-shirt and driving with the top down at 34 degrees.
