Call the Fontana Lodge, availability of rooms and cabins/houses changes daily. Some people rent 2 and 3 bedroom cabins and want to share cost with others. Post here on the Forum if you are interested in doing that. You can also rent a cabin and then seek others to share it. Tapoco Lodge is close but pricy. Regular hotel rooms in Robbinsville, NC.

Had a setback at PT yesterday, and will not be attending this year, unfortunately. I have a room in the main lodge from Friday through Sunday. Anyone need it, before I cancel it?

Actually, if you cancel now, you loose your deposit anyway - how about not cancelling until about three days before? By then we can SURELY find someone to pay you for it and take it! That way you dont loose anything.
I KNOW someone is gonna come along wanting a room.......

Hi All, BRDEE and I will be making our first journey to the Dragon event this year. Arriving Friday, leaving Sunday. Booked at Fontana Lodge. We're looking forward to it- it's been on our "to-do" list since we moved to Greensboro, NC in 2019. Markus and Mary Beth
The day BRDEE came home with us from Findlay, OH in July 2019.

The lodge was booked over a month ago, nothing left. I think they LIE to us.
I really do. (I maintain that every single person will lie if it nets them as little as $2.)

On behalf of the team, I would like to offer the following:
The planning committee for the annual Crossfires at the Dragon event has some exciting information to share. There is a lot of work (and even financial donations from the committee members) that goes into this event to create a memorable experience. The Dragon has been a staple for many years - 16, to be exact.
As our community grows, communication has been a challenge. To solve this, we have a new website that will improve communication regarding our events. The new website is a work in progress, but the 2022 Dragon information is posted and ready for attendees to peruse. Website: www.crossfires.org
Fontana Village Resort is no longer meeting our needs, for various reasons. The committee has made the decision to move the location next year to enhance this amazing event in the Smoky Mountains. Because of this, you will not want to book a room at Fontana for next year. We have an exploratory committee that is scoping out a new venue and will release information once we have things in place. We are all very excited to elevate the attendee experience for our annual Crossfire event!
You can still watch this area of the forum for news about the 2023 event, as I will always post EVERY event I hear about in this forum. If you have ANY event you are hosting, just post in this forum and I or Gary (VALK) will make your thread a "sticky".

Now, on the tail of the above announcement, I have my own announcement.
After heading up Dragon meets since 2014, it has come time for someone new to take over.
The shift from the Lodge will be a lot of work and given the tremendous effort being put forth by the
committee, I think this is my chance to step back. Like Gary (Valk) before me, I will remain on the
committee and contribute what I can.
Please stay tuned - things are changing for the better and I, for one, am excited about 2023.

If the lodge has not done some major work then I can see you leaving that place.
I was there 12 years ago in the main lodge, and I heard lots of complaints about the cabins.
Good luck in finding something suitable.

See, I like the cabins. I have stayed in a one bedroom cabin for several years - they are actually small 'house trailers' but you get about 700 square feet of space, your own parking spot, and a kitchen.
I stayed in a three bedroom cabin in 2010 but can't remember much about it, cept for the beautiful fireplace. (That was an actual house from the days of the construction of the dam.)

I am also excited to move to a new area in 2023 but still near the Smoky Mountain Region
I will also will remain on the planning committee as we explore the new location for the annual Fall Crossfire GTG next year
