Cancelling for obvious reasons. Have re-scheduled cabin for last week of October. Not much wx in Miami, not so for family house in Cape Coral on the water. Will be heading over as soon as conditions allow, not looking good. Can't speak for other Floridians, but I have never "run from my home" including 1992 when I rode out Andrew. ( only a cat 5). All states have wx issues even Texas, I would think.

I believe it's 100% now, no FLorida attendees will be there. Meanwhile, the forecast for the Fontana area has actually improved. We will get rain but perhaps not on THursday or Friday and much of Saturday may be pretty good. I think Sunday will be a museum and cave run day - that's the tentative plan so far. My "Wheels Thru TIme" run will probably happen Sunday now, I could spend all DAY in that place!

Marie and I (Chuck) have to cancel our weekend trip. Been having top issues where the pins don't line up when closing. I can push up on middle of top so it will close. Beeping noise would drive us crazy lol
I'm just sad that we will not be able to see our friends this year...

The beeping usually means it has not fully cycled.

Will pulling a fuse get rid of the beeping?

I do not believe so. That beeping is an alert that the cycle did not complete and is a stored message in the cluster that comes either from the Top COntroller or the Body Control module. The fact that the top does not align properly is also a clue, they may have a cylinder not completely moving to position (for what ever reason).

Very disappointed to announce we have canceled our trip. Conditions in Southeast Georgia are deteriorating and the forecast isn't encouraging tonight through tomorrow.

Hoping all remaining attendees arrive safely and have a great time. We'll miss seeing you this time but look forward to the new plans the planning committee has in store for next year. Joe & Kerri

Roberta & I decided to leave for home Saturday right after the Fontana Dam photo shoot. With the onset of bronchitis she was dealing with along with the medication (anti-biotic) she was taking, we felt it was best if we headed for home.

Just wanted to extend our thanks to the Event Committee for this year's ToD GTG. Event went off without any hitch that I was aware of and we will miss the ambiance of the Fontana Lodge in future ToD GTGs. However, we are also excited to learn where next year's Fall ToD GTG will be held and look forward to many ongoing events at the new locale.

Later,

The weather was not a factor after all, as much as I was sure it was going to be.|

My Facebook perspective and "closing report":

I'm home. The 2022 CHrysler Crossfire Tail of the DRagon meet was a great time. The weather was forecast to be marginal, but it was actually pretty good. We had drizzle a bit on Saturday but nothing that slowed us down.

As you who attended know, I was billed $321 for the meeting room and I collected $345 from attendees to offset that charge. I split the excess $24 between a generous room tip for housekeeping and the Grill staff. This way, all money collected stayed at the lodge.

This year, I drove James Lee Smith's highly modded SRT Roadster specifically to test the TCU tune that he and Josh Chase of the Mercedes Swap Shop sell. James' car is modded for a lot of extra power and the TCU tune gives you precise control of the transmission. THe car was a BLAST to drive down hellbender on Sunday morning. I can' honestly say no automatic transmission-equipped car has been that much fun.

A big thank you to Jeff Kielmeyer for the loan of an SRT Roadster for the event, as I, once again, flew in for this event. (This is an SRT that is totally stock, the SRT sure handles well, but the chance to change from Jeff's stock SRT to James' car and back to the stock SRT really shows what the SRT can be, given enough work and money.)

I only drove the Dragon on Sunday and I can tell you, I have no desire to drive it ever again if the law enforcement situation remains as it is. I did not get cited, but I witnessed just how tough they have become. IF you drive thru and LOOK like you might be one to go fast, you are guilty. I understand that the death/accident rate on the Dragon has risen this year and I understand this cant be allowed to go on. Apparently, the Tennessee State Police are now involved and they are tough. I never saw one County deputy this year, only state police. I enjoyed Hellbender, Moonshiner, Wayah road and the drive up the back way to Maggie Valley - but the Dragon is too much of a risk the way things are now.

The Smokies offer great driving roads, and while the Dragon is the catchy name that draws the crowds, it was the low point as far as driving roads go, for me. Alas, changes are afoot, and there are other venues within a reasonable distance of the Dragon that will offer a fresh look at what we as a group can do with an event, and offer a quality driving experience, all the same.

We only were able to attend one Crossfire TotD event, and it was a blast! I am still thankful for all the hard work that went into the planning and execution of the event!

On a side note, for those with automatic Crossfires, the TCU upgrade changes the personality of the car completely. The best part is that the tuners can set the "W" mode to be much more of what you are used to now, and "S" *really* wakes the car up. Turning Traction Control off offers yet another level of excitement. This is not just for the SRT-6's. Our 04 Limited also benefitted from it, and you'll really notice it helping the driving experience a lot when you are in the twisty road runs, like we have at the TotD events. If you're on the fence, jump over! The TCU is plug and play, and completely reversible if you don't like it (can't imagine anyone wouldn't like it).

ATTN CROSSFIRE 2023 GATHERING COMITTEE...If future gatherings are to be located anywhere near Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg TN WE WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING. Nothing but traffic congestion and nightmares around these areas. Thanks fo not doing this.

I won't even serve on the committee if they do that. Marysville, Boone, Johnson City or Bryson City are all good options.
But PF and GB are OUT of the question. TOTALLY not an option.

THat is not the tune I was talking about.

THe new tune is a four-mode upgrade (Comfort, Sport, Agility, Manual). YOu scroll thru the modes and they display in place of D4321, then it times out and goes back to D4321. (Or 54321 in Manual mode).
Ya gotta experience this mod, it's not like the TCU mod you speak of - which Howard's car has and I've driven, that is a good mod, but THIS takes things way farther.

You can't believe the control you have and the speed at which you can shift in Sport mode. YOu have total control.
