Bob - Take Roberta & me off the attendee list for the XFire Eureka Springs event. With all the upsurge in COVID-19 cases occurring across the USA, we believe it is too risky for us to travel and attend. Hope everyone attending has an enjoyable week. Be careful & stay safe.

On behalf of the planning committee we have put together a weekend of events designed to relieve the stresses that have accumulated over the last several months.
We ask you to exercise reasonable precautions, but the focus will be on a relaxed, stress-free weekend among friends who share the Crossfire passion.
Until then have a safe 4th of July holiday weekend and safe travels to Eureka Springs next weekend !!
We are looking forward to seeing all of you.

For those attending, I have a few extra Kenwood Radios available . These will all be mobile radios, not hand helds. They plug into your cigarette lighter and come with a magnet mount antenna you can pop up on the roof (coupe) or on the rear deck (roadster).
The complete kit , ready to use, will be $90. These feature LOUD speakers, 5 watts output and an external antenna - car to car range will exceed a WalMart radio by MILES. Photo is of an antenna on Eric Hyden's car, the radio shown is the entire kit.
That small radio is 'out of stock' as it went out of production in 2005 or so.
These radios will be the larger, bit heavier NX800 which is a current production radio. THis one is digital capable and retails for $680; these are used pullouts and are about 3-4 years old.
If you post here, I will reserve one for you. If not, I'll bring them for who ever wants one.

This was shared to me by one of the locals and Crossfire owners who are on our planning committee and will be attending this event with all of us
Health and safety guidelines for the Crossfire Fun in the Ozarks meet.
The Eureka Springs community has been very proactive in following safety protocols, so the covid numbers are very low in the immediate area.
The meet has been set up to adhere to all the CDC guidelines.
Almost all activities are outdoors and the convention center requires a face covering to enter the facility, as do all other Eureka Springs businesses.
The Crossfire community is made up of thoughtful people who are considerate and kind, and we have no doubt that everyone will be conscientious during this time with friends!

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!
Looks like the weather will be essentially friendly (no four days of rain like in 2015). Our host hotel is NOT AT ALL booked up, anyone who wants to attend can make up their mind anytime.
I think we have quite a few first-timers, which is always good.
There will be at least two new runs this year. One will be to Joplin, cause we have an attendee who must run up there to buy new eyeglasses (which are waiting for her as I type this). The last 25 miles are BORING, but up to that point, I have a kinda pretty and fun route to use to get there. (I go to Springfield often, so Iv'e been on those roads a lot - it's a pretty area - one part of the highway west of Cassville looks like TN72 just west of the Dragon!)
I know John Tw0-Hawks has some new "short" (under four hours) runs to take us on as well. The Ferry run (a long day, but really good) is on for this year - that is one not to be missed.
I hope to do my Jasper/Ozark Dragon/Ozark Grand Canyon run as well - just not sure what day yet, gotta talk to the other leads.
There will be no parade this year, not a formal one - but nothing stops us from ALL cruising the city together, we just won't have traffic blocked for us.
There are a lot of restrictions on restaurants in Arkansas - we can only sit together in groups of up to 4 or 6, but that makes things more intimate and you can get to know people better anyway. IF we find a place with outdoor seating, they are allowed to let us sit in larger numbers, but it's hard to find outdoor seating.

Unfortunately my brothers car has destroyed its valvetrain as of last week. However he will be bringing a car more familiar to our group, and yeah, its also red. We will be there mid day Sunday, hope to see everyone by the end of the week.

Just watched a show on PBS called Paul Allen Smith’s Garden Home and it was about Eureka. Featured the Crescent Hotel, several restaurants, the glass chapel and an animal shelter called Turpentine Ridge full of large cats and bears, would be a cool place to visit. Also featured some other points of interest and some history. Y’all have fun, we just aren’t brave enough to do it this year but will wish you all a good time.

Ok, packing the car now! (Dragging my feet as some of my clothing is still in the dryer.) I leave when I get home from work tomorrow.
This vacation is SO badly needed - new job kinda sucks, and I've not taken time off for me since the Fall Dragon.
My drive to Eureka SPrings would be 40 miles, but I am going by way of Branson, MO - I'll be staying in Branson for two nights as a "pre-Ozarks" warm up.
I can't wait to see everyone, and to lead some runs thru the Ozark area - where I have lived since last November.
Let me be the first to welcome you all to, well, MY AREA!
