I got home at 8pm Central time. WOW am I tired, sure am glad I came home on Friday and have two days to rest up for work Monday (as well as clean the car).
And again, the drive back from Jasper following Gene on Wednesday was epic - a fine example of how there are many good roads NOT that far from the hotel.

On TUE, we were part of the group Gene led over the roadways to Peel Ferry. Seeing 10 XFires on the ferry was something to see. We stopped for lunch at a great BBQ house in Harrison, before heading back to Eureka Springs. We were really looking forward to taking the ferry ride across the lake. Overall, a really good day!
And I have to say that on several routes this week, Annette has rode along as tail gunner on the trips. She does a fabulous job communicating on the group's navigation of intersections and the occasional non-XFire member than joins the group.

Awwww Thanks for the compliment!

I had such a great time this entire trip but sorry to say the time flew way too fast! I made it home safe and sound.
I hope everyone had a wonderful time and will join us again next year! If you didn't have an opportunity to come this year, please be sure to plan on coming next year. The roads are absolutely fabulous for driving our cars...
I want to thank everyone who helped with the planning (RedDog, John Two Hawks, Peggy Two Hawks, Gene, Gary, PizzaGuy). I think we did a much better job with organizing this year and still have improvements planned for next year.
Have a great summer!

I now have a favorite run - the "Gene's Run" from Jasper to the Hotel - total winner.
2) I did little this year, I only led a few groups. Now that I live here, I will step up and take a larger role. I am actually 6 1/2 hours from ES and plan to run up there this fall for a few days to look the roads over and try to learn more about the area.
WOW did I need this vacation. Of course, on the way home, my window started to come unglued again - so I will be part of the next group buy of tops.

This was a fabulous week overall
I'm still on vacation in Missouri with the gateway Crossfire group
Today we went out on kayaks on the meramac river and then had our own BBQ back at our large rented cabin
Leaving in the morning from here in Steelville Missouri for the final trip home
I'm coming back next year to Eureka Springs for sure
The hotel is perfect for hosting our event
The locals add to the event as well
The Ozarks are beautiful and the roads are absolutely the best for our runs
If you haven't attended I hope you will come and experience what we have
I'll post a link with all my photos here once I'm back home
Thank you all for such a fantastic week !!!

We arrived home today around 11 AM. Had a safe trip from Eureka Springs to SC. Car performed very well out & back. The roadways in the Ozarks were excellent and the XFire handled them all with grace. We did have the infamous intermittent A/C issue during our stay in Eureka Springs, and with the upper 90's heat wave, it made our days a little uncomfortable. But as one might suspect, the A/C worked flawlessly on both the outbound and return trips.
Wanted to express our thanks to the organizing committee for this event. The Best Western Inn of the Ozarks was a splendid host and the layout of the hotel & grounds fits the needs of our group as well as, possibly better than, Fontana Lodge. The routes we drove with others were great and the Route Leaders & Tail Gunners were outstanding.
All in all a great week-long event and one that all Crossfire Owners should make an attempt to attend. Mark your calendars - 2019 event is tentatively scheduled for the last week of June.

I'm heading back up there this fall for a four day weekend to study roads and make mental notes on some of the attractions we (or at least I) keep missing.
A lot of effort went into setting this up:
A BIG THANKS goes out to the committee, it seemed like a really big event even tho we had only about 22 cars. I find it notable that all but four cars (is that right? Lisa, Gary, Leon and myself) were couples, or two to a car (like Grady and friend) - we had a LOT of people there.

- The two dinners at the conference center
- The dinner in the hanger
- The runs

One of the highlights I experienced was finding a local couple that owned a couple of Crossfires. I first found them parked near the other Best Western facility in Eureka Springs. Caught a glimpse of their cars as I was driving by - had to turn around. Turns out Gene had also spotted them & was attempting to get them to join the group for a few events. They did show for our police-escorted parade through Eureka Springs and both attended the closing dinner on Thursday night. But the real highlight for me was one of their cars was a Machine Gray Limited Coupe!!

A few more pictures.
Most unique Crossfire at the event! Paint job was really well done!
Best looking Crossfire at the event! (But I'm a little partial - Hah!) And one of only 4 or 5 Coupes that participated.

Besides a few lumps and bumps the newbies had a great time. We will be coming back. just about everyone has mentioned how great the roads are, and I can see why, some of the nicest we have ever driven on. Thanks everyone for a great week, hope to see ya all next time. Don and Judy
