Re: 9th Annual Spring Tail of the Dragon GTG - March 31 - April 4, 2016
I have had the door ding from hell. You will live thru...but it does suck. New door skin and paint and you can't tell some .....hole backed into it and left....but that was Woodward Dream Cruise. Which we are going to make one way or another this year. Need to talk to Rob... And a host of others. Be safe in the mtn's. I will watch for XF on my way to Lexington Friday....

Joyce and Lars Keller in our SSB SRT6, Tag I.D. is CRUZN42,are departing NW GA this afternoon for the lodge. We will be at the Lodge this evening, hopefully before dark. Storms are incoming here NorthWest of Atlanta soon and are imminent for our route to Fonatana. Everyone slow down on wet roads, these mountain roads with leaves and debris are very slippery, even for a Crossfire. See everyone at the Lodge tonight. Drive Safely !

I am home (3 1/2 hours) from the DRAGON. I am already super busy and HOPE I can relax a bit this afternoon. I wanted to say a few things.
1) Thanks. Just too many people to thank - the handshakes and "thank you for a wonderful time" and "Now I see why you people keep coming here" and "Damn, Mark, I have never had such a time with my car or friends before" - those of you who tell me of the wonderful time you had really make my weekend. It makes it ALL worth it. BUT I DID NOT DO THIS ALONE, I DID NOT EVEN DO THIS, we all did this!
2) Sorry for being so distracted, most of you know that my mind was on things at home that arose during the weekend.
3) The committee and CICCI board really helped this weekend.
4) NO ONE helped like Dee. We raised $200 for her gift, thank you all - that was amazing since you had 3 minutes to contribute before she walked back into the room!!!!
5) If you are reading this and STILL cant see a reason to attend a Dragon, I do not know what it would take.

My favorite remark (from, I THINK, my favorite person - other than the two cute waitresses in the Lodge!) was Marvin, from Dayton, Ohio. He followed me as car 2 of the pack coming back from down the Dragon after our run. He pretty much kept up with me the whole time:
"If I never drive my car again, I can go home happy......"
As for my first timers and some of my less-experienced drivers on the Devils' Triangle, all I can say is, at that pace I was surprised we stayed together as well as we did. (For the vets, we ran it on the low end of Moderate. I don't think I ever went more than 20 over cept in a few real open, clear areas.)
The weather was WONDERFUL, don't get used to it we don't always luck out like THAT!!!!

Jonathan had a salty steak in the Lodge restaurant Friday night and they had to go home.
The church service, of course, was cancelled. It seems like the foundation of our meet was gone - that is my view.
We got by without him, Lars stepped up and did a winery tour (that just don't sound right on a DRAGON weekend!!!!!!!! )
But this can't happen again.
(I think the steak left the processing plant salted, but that is one ignor-anus's opinion.

Glad to hear all went well, and everybody had the usual GREAT time. Even the weather cooperated. We're thinking about the Fall Dragon, since we haven't been able to make it down the last few years. Hope to see everybody at Woodward.

And I would like to REALLY RUB SOME OF YOUR FACES in this: Those of you giving me crap for flirting with the waitresses - know this: I got a nice hug from Ashely this morning when she said,"Did you notice the sunrise?" and I responded (as loud as I could, and that's pretty loud), "No, but I noticed that the hungry-er I am, the cuter you look." Eat my dust, they like me up there.

I had a great time at the dragon this weekend as usual. Hats off to the planning committee especially deezfire who went above and beyond with everything she put into making this a memorable weekend. I will be leaving in the morning aready thinking about the next one, and a little sad that it went by so fast.
I will miss all my old and new Crossfire friends until the next time. I pray that everyone who was here has made it, or makes it home safely. And to everyone, especially all the first timers, hope to see you again soon at another great Crossfire event.
Till next time...

Im still tired from the weekend. Slept 8 hours last night, still dragging. What a weekend.
And due to the petulant and childlike Nick (who grabbed my arm and forcefully drug me out of the lodge lobby Thursday night like a spoiled little girl) and got me to drive him to the liquor store in Marysville - I now have driven the Dragon in the dark at speed.
THEN, he drove back at SPEED and made me car sick for the second time in my life.
I'm spoiled - now I know why the Gens run 2-3 times a day in the dark - I get it now.
