What the hell? That would be 14% tax.
Mark, I've bought many vehicles from out of state. It sounds like you're trying to buy a car that's currently in Florida, right? If you're buying from a licensed dealership, they are required by law to collect the sales tax amount as due in your home state where the car will be registered. Usually they complete the entire transaction including collecting the sales tax, application for title, buying new plates or transferring your existing plate, etc. Florida will then forward the monies to your home state and provide you with documentation proving that you have indeed paid the sales tax and all the other fees.

If you're buying from a private seller, you just pay them for the car and when you get it to your home state go register it there paying the sales tax etc. at your local DMV (or whatever it's called in GA).

Yes , Yes.

I did the same thing when I bought my Crossie in Ohio. When we presented the document, MO had no issue with it

in 2010 I think we had the largest turnout,,we had 84 cars,
maybe if someone would post on here at least once a day then all members would see it which would remind them to join us, and make this the bigest and best,
I have challenged all the V8 crossfires to attend and maybe they will. jim

Pizzaguy I brought my 6 from a dealership in Arkansas and I live in Kentucky. I didn't pay sales taxes until I registered the car in Kentucky which sucked cause it didn't included in my loan payments.

Could we get back to the tail of the dragon now. at least at the end of your post state, if you are going to the dragon, so the unsuspected would know what this post is about. Don't intend to offend anyone, we just need to make this dragon the largest ever. thanks jim

I'd like to see that, and I'm doing my part by spreading the word to those-who-have-never-attended.
I do NOT think that there is any other way to build attendance, Jim. Sure, some old hats are going to come that we haven't seen in years, but if you want record attendance (and I am there with you) I don't think it can be done without first-timers.

I believe I have two, maybe three, that will be there this fall for the first time, just from our GTG this past Sunday. And I am already working on another GTG up here later this summer.

Shh Shh Shh, I prefer the quieter dragons. Not that I don't like to see you all, I just get overwhelmed with so many people around.

In my humble opinion (expressed quietly before) . . . the only way to "save" the Fontana Village Tail of the Dragon meets and boost attendance is to make them a longer "during the week" event so it becomes worthwhile for attendees from farther away to make the trip. Even if interested, people are not willing to take off two or three days of work (weekdays) to drive there for a three day weekend event and then have to drive two days (weekdays that require taking off work again) back home. They are taking off four or five days to attend a three day event. The dragon is a great venue with lots of great little towns to visit and many interesting fun roads / routes to explore. It is certainly worthy of a four or five day "during the week" event. Just Sayin'

I don't feel that there is any concern to "save" the Dragon
It has been successful twice a year since 2007

Although I need to give this some thought...

I could hand over the Fall meet to you for 2016 and you could plan the Fall event
I still would suggest you plan for the first week in October but I'd leave that up to you

I ask the members to go cast there vote in the poll I created to gauge the interest here
in whether you would choose a weekend or a week long GTG at the Dragon
Please post your comments and your vote in the thread link below to keep the discussion in one single separate thread
