FRANC'S Third ANNUAL OFF ROAD. ADVENTURE IN NORTH CAROLINA
Jim and Trish have invited us to their mountain place in North Carolina.
So, once again we have a Franc's Off road experience set for Friday, October 2nd. Officially this is a freebie but token gifts are encouraged for our hosts.
We will leave the Lodge about 9:30 and arrive for lunch at 12:00 or so.
Plans are to stay until 3:00 or when the police arrive.
Jim suggested a desire to be on the road with us in his Porsche.
I told him we are fairly tolerant of other religions and he could join us.
This year we will place a "CROSSFIRE" Plank in the deck he built for our Crossfire gathering last year.
All are welcome, including crotchety old Canadians.
PM me with your names so I can form a list and prepare Jim's wife Trish for the invasion.

Red Dog (Bob & Cindy)
Carl Graham (Carl)
AKING57 (Andy)
Singeron (Ron)

Word from our host is that we are likely to encounter wet conditions, even rain that day.
Translation, Our Cars Will Get DIRTY!
I ain't washing any of them.
Rainbow Springs road will be impassable so we will use the same route as last year. State road 28 (eastern Hellbender) to US 74, then US 64 Via Wayah Road. Jim and Trish are at the intersection of US 64 and Old west Murphy Road, about 1/4south and on the left.
If your name is on the list, we will count on your presence. If not,,,,
Contact me via PM if you wish to join or decline.

Not this time, but I did wash the Crossfire in the rain yesterday. It has been raining here in NC since Friday, but I refuse to start a trip with a dirty car! Hopefully the weather will give us a break this weekend.

At this point, I believe my SATURDAY run will be as Gary described above, but we will SKIP the falls and visit "The Lost Sea".
My Sunday run is likely going to be a "Devil's Triangle" run using a little known scenic and kinda slow, relaxed route featuring the Dragon on the way out and again on the way back to the lodge (for those not breaking away part way in the run and heading home..)

We will be doing a Saturday drive, not sure which one yet. We are thinking of doing the Franklin run with a detour to Bridal Falls (adds a little over an hour) since we haven't been there since we came across it years ago. We'll be leaving Sunday to drive down to Atlanta to catch the Cardinals final regular season game.

Too many irons in the fire for me.
Work has me tied 12 hours a day
The home remodel has my weekends covered
Rebuilding the Dodge One ton getting it ready for paint.
And two power boat projects... The crossie just sits on the drive and sulks.
Mine will get a wash if it rains on the way down.
What ever happened to retirement?

No, she has inventory at work this weekend - See you tomorrow night.
Re: 9th Annual Fall 2015 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 1, 2, 3, 4
Yes. You are correct. I think it is 13 or so miles west out of Franklin. If you pass Rainbow Springs road you went a 1/2 mile too far.

Re: 9th Annual Fall 2015 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 1, 2, 3, 4
Yea, I think I see their place up on the mountain under construction...
Re: 9th Annual Fall 2015 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 1, 2, 3, 4
A few folks are coming from outside the main group. They can try and find the house on the mountain but I suggest, if they arrive before 11:30, they wait at the intersection of Old West Murphy road and US 64. until the main group arrives.
Also,,,, I plan to be on Channel 10 for the convoy trip down. If anyone arrives late they can call on that channel and we can guide them in to the property.
Under no circumstances, should anyone try to drive their Crossfire up the mountain. It is steep, narrow and likely slippery. And there is no place to park at the top.
We will send the shuttle down to get you.
I am pulling out Thursday 4;00 AM as I must drop Crumpy off at the airport. So any questions get them in tonite
