I may make it after all but will not know until sometime Friday.

Are there road trips planned where I could try to intersect in case I can head over Saturday morning?

 

With such a small group, I won't be making route plans until Friday night.
(We have plans to run to "the road to nowhere" on Friday but that's it.)

My default route is Cherahala Skyway, then up to Vonure or what ever it is, then back thru the Dragon. SOMEONE will probably do that on Saturday - but again, with such a small bunch, it's going to be depending on who will lead and how many go with Jonathan's tourist class - he usually does a Franklin-ish run of some variety.

So I just don't know!

 

Ran some nice twisty roads in southern KY in the big black rig today. I thought, man I wish I was in a XF. Things are greening up down there. I won't be making the dragon. Summer compound tires and cool weather don't mix very well. You all be safe and have a great weekend....

 

I am coming in on Thursday now, should arrive by midday , the weather looks good so far. Hope some folks are around after lunch for a run

Well, I got here and ran the Dragon before I headed to the Lodge, as usual. The car didnt' feel right, I don't know if I need shocks or it's the new Hankooks (they look pretty much the same as before). Anyway, there was NO traffic and no LEOs, so on the way back I ran it good.

I can't tell you what happened (I always judged guys who say that), but the car kinda let go in what really isn't the tight of a curve, and it's banked really well, too. I crossed the center and went into trees. I"m ok and the car isn't really all that bad, but the wrecker guy and I both agree: insurance will total it. I guess I'm still the "Event Coordinator" just not gonna be a route leader this time.

It's almost as bad as being in the hospital last spring. EDIT: NO, that was worse, I can buy another car.

The REAL Dragon update: When my pilgrimage ended in the Lodge parking lot this afternoon at 4:30, the temperature was 77F ! It was 80 in Murphy, NC! The Dragon and all roads around here were almost deserted. I ran all the way from Robbinsville down the Dragon, back UP the Dragon and to the Lodge without EVER coming up behind someone. The Lodge parking lot has less then 15 cars in it, the Gap Store had less than 20 motorcycles. I STILL say, that with Easter this weekend, we are gonna have some pretty open roads.

 

I going to head south around 4-5 am sat. I should be there 11-12. I talked my boss in to letting me off work. See you all there. I'll call tomorrow to get a room for Saturday night.
