Crossfires Across America #6 - Ozark Mountain Region - June 15-18, 2015
Re: Crossfires Across America #6 - Ozark Mountain Region - June 15-18, 2015
Looks like Mary & I will be cutting our stay short......leaving this morning. Mary got in this morning to see the dentist here in town about her toothache. Seems she'll need a root canal. Gave us pain meds for the ride back home. We had to cancel tomorrow's lunch on the train so wanted to let everyone know there are two openings available if you call quick. We enjoyed meeting everyone these last few days. Have fun and see you all next time.
Glad you got to join us even for a couple of days. Best of luck on the tooth! Those things take all the fun out of trying to have a good time..

We drove today the short route planned before the train ride tomorrow. Thorncrown Chapel was amazing! Beaver Dam from the lookout was a great view. And Beaver Bridge was a thrill! Single-lane, wooden planked drive across bridge! Nice little trip covering just north of Eureka Springs.
So far, a really good XFire GTG Event.

Since Brenda and I had to leave early, we obviously won't be at the bar-b-que, so would the manager of that list please take us off the reservation list. You will all enjoy the bar-b-que. They have a neat restaurant, separate from, but adjacent to the the Harley dealership, and the food is great.
Have fun, and don't run over any more deer. Seriously be careful, the deer population is really high down there, and they frequently travel in groups, so if you see one, slow down and keep your eyes open for others.

I will post some pictures when I can Lorne, and it has been a great trip, but would have been much better with Elaine and you here. You have been missed my friend I have heard your names mentioned more than a few times.
Hope all is well with you both.

Sorry I had to leave but situations at the plant forced a quick retreat.
Caught up with Mark and and his wife Marguerite going home to Chicago. Great trip home.
Thanks for the company!
I had a wonderful time. Thanks to all who joined me for lunch in Mount Judea.
See you guys at the Dragon.

Well, I was gonna leave this morning but John (TWOFAST) and Gary guilted me into staying.
Had two runs, one was a "John Original" in the area around the Hotel on super-secret roads... totally worth staying.
There is SO much here we missed in the four days we've been here.
The Go-Karts were a highpoint of the week.

Congrats on your acquisition.
You truly do have a rare one, 2006 SRT6 roadster. There are like on 3 or 4 in the world.
Lee Summit ? You need to join the local Gateway group. We do several local events each spring, summer and fall.
I think we are planning a Zip line this summer near Branson.
Welcome!

We left this morning at 0615 after spending a great week with fellow XFire owners. Thanks to all that arranged this event & to those that served as route leaders. We've stopped in Birmingham tonight after an uneventful road trip. On to Upstate SC in the morning. Everyone travel safe.

Agreed, the clerk told me that he had not met a problem customer or had any complaint about us. (Of course, I think we had all but mabye 8-10 rooms booked).k
I was going to leave, but Gary and John (twofast) talked me into staying, I depart in hte morning.
The weather today was no worse than other days, the system is right on top of us now, rain and a LITTLE wind, but so far, not even any lightning.
A BIG part of the fun was meeting John and his wife - this was one for the books.

With the wet roads, it was time to drive conservatively anyway.
Re: Crossfires Across America #6 - Ozark Mountain Region - June 15-18, 2015
We left this morning around 9ish and made it home safe late afternoon. There was some white knuckle driving times while dealing with heavy rains, wind and 18 wheelers through parts of Oklahoma. But somehow when we crossed the Red River, the sky opened and it never rained again as if to welcome us home.
What a FANtastic time we had at CAA6! It was great meeting up with old friends and meeting new...including Cindy (XF Tom) and finally meeting Mark (pizzaguy)! (I regret not having more time to talk with you Mark)
This was our third CAA to attend and each one has its own unique characteristic which make them each special for us. The one thing they all have in common is the wonderful Crossfire family that gets bigger with each event we attend.
With so MANY great drives, Eureka Springs should become a annual Crossfire summer event! We look forward to returning Eureka Springs.
Great job Greg and Sherri!

I really hate that we didn't talk more, too. And that goes for MANY who I met here. But EVERY GTG I go to, I walk away with that feeling.
Greg and Sherry hit a home run with this one. There is SO MUCH to do here, wildlife sanctuaries, a zoo, GREAT restaurants (seriously, no matter what money you have to spend or what you want to eat - it is all within five miles of the hotel), the roads John took us on today (all within 30 miles of our hotel) were awesome and unknown to tourists.
This was a favorite area for hiking when I worked here two years ago, and the downtown area of Eureka Springs is just out of this world interesting and beautiful. Anyone who likes to go off and do some fishing should come here! If you are a history buff, you may not want to leave the area.
Again, this was one for the books....

What a fun week we all had here in the Ozarks !!!
I really got a feel for this place and could see us coming back again next year
The place is everything we need to have a great time
I even would consider setting up a meet here next year in the fall rather than a annual Tail of the Dragon
Spring 2016 Tail of the Dragon and Fall 2016 Ozark adventure
I think this might be the beginning of change for the Crossfire community.
Well I'm leaving in the morning and heading over to Bentonville to visit a long time friend and then heading on up to Kansas City on Saturday to visit another and then finally on Sunday the last 7 hour run back home.
I enjoyed my time with everyone and I'm quite sure there are a few that I never officially met due to the size of the group and the many different runs and eating places we all enjoyed
Hats off to Greg and Sherri (Mrmiata) for setting up CAA6 and hosting this large and successful GTG this year !!!
Also special thanks to our newest member John (TWOFAST) and his wife Peggy
These people are locals and have owned a 2005 Yellow Roadster from new and never knew the forum existed until he by chance came upon us at the host hotel after seeing Crossfires in numbers buzzing around town here in Eureka Springs.
He immediately became one of the group and in fact took the lead on some fantastic runs we otherwise would have not known about
John is a very talented musician and has lived here in Eureka Springs for 15 years
He and Peggy instantly became a part of our group for the week here together meeting us each day to participate in the activities
