I know John and Molly will have a great wedding day but I'm pretty sure it won't be at the lodge

John,
I do hope to see you both at either meet you can attend
Are you still going to be at WDC in August ?

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well we just made res. at the Lodge , not many rooms out there , none in the main Lodge , seem like another car group are eating all the other rooms up , so if your waiting on getting room ,you may think about not waiting much longer ,

I only reserved the normal: 24 rooms for Thursday and 34 for Fri-Mon. This is because the spring event was never attended like the fall one and often, we would not have even 30 cars. There has not been a problem this early before - were you all just waiting for me to be your leader? Well, if this is the new 'normal', the contract for next year will be for a lot more rooms.

BE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU SPECIFY YOU ARE WITH THE CROSSFIRES! ! ! (Both to avoid being told "we are full" when they really are just reserving rooms for us - and to get the special rate. But as I count attendees, the numbers DO add up. I am pleased that the Dragon attendance is GROWING over time, even six years after our cars went out of production.

Also:
The Gencoupes will be there that weekend, as they have been these past few years - we intentionally do that because:

1) They are a good bunch.
2) Eric designed THEIR car as well.

They have always reserved most of all of the cabins (and often, it would be four cars per cabin.)
I do not know if they reserved any lodge rooms, but I DO know they always run out of cabins in the weeks leading up to the event.

Worse case: Fontana has a campground nearby if you care for that option. The MicroTel in Robbinsville is also an option. There are ALSO cabins right at Deal's Gap (up the driveway across from where NC28 'tees' into 129). I don't know who to call about them, but I bet the Lodge could tell you.

I will update the attendance list in a few minutes. Good Job, Mickey!

From my facebook page:
  • WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, slow down, everyone! I signed the contract with the Lodge myself. I am VERY sorry for the problems but the Gencoupes did NOT steal our rooms! We have ALWAYS reserved 34 rooms in the lodge and I did so last September. I just talked to Tim Gamble - another group DID reserve a lot of rooms in the lodge, but as it stands now, he is still holding our rooms per the contract. You have several weeks before the rooms are released for the general public or other clubs.

  • Mark Christopher If ANYONE has a problem booking a room under the Crossfire rate, please call TIM GAMBLE during the day or DONNA PEIRCY in the evening at the main lodge number. Tim will be off for two days, he says send him an email if you have ANY problem.

  • Mark Christopher First floor main lodge rooms are all gone - so those of you who like those rooms, well, you aint' the only ones. But there are still rooms on our contract, all either in the main lodge or in the buildings close by.

If you plan on going, to the spring Dragon, you BETTER call the lodge NOW. We have 34 rooms reserved, but if you look at the signup list - you can tell it's getting tight.

If we exceed 34 rooms, we still get the special rate BUT ONLY IF THERE IS A ROOM OPEN !!!!

I think our Facebook page has really changed things - the Spring meet was always this small, same-old-ugly-faces thing, not this year.

Well, all there is, would be the Microtel in Robbinsville (not a bad place, but a 22 mile drive to the lodge)

And the "Garden Rooms" are all separate from the Lodge anyway, you can usually park the car right outside your door! It's three or four units to a building, apart from everything.

OR, you could see if they have a cabin - that's like renting a HOUSE. You even have private parking right out your door.

28 cars on the list - if you have not done so, call the lodge and get a room reserved NOW!

Yup, I'm guilty of forgetting to book early.
I just booked tonight and the main lodge building is fully booked
I'm in a garden room near the lodge for the first time.
I'll have my flashlight and hiking boots with me this time...lol
