Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Back home safe and sound after a very wet ride all the way, so much water laying on the roads very easy to aquaplane.
What a great weekend i had, some very good runs, some very nice new people and very entertaining evening conversations. Thanks John, Molly, Nick , Shaun, Gary, Ray, Susan, Lisa, Evan, Michael and everyone else for some very fun times.
As Nick said so very well:
"COME FOR THE ROADS, COME BACK FOR THE PEOPLE"
Cant wait for the Fall Dragon
Now its time to start processing all the pictures so that i can post them and add a link so that you can download if you want to print any to keep.
all the best
Andy

Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
The weekend started out with a few drinks with Shawn, Andy, and Pat Thursday night, oh and meeting MrMiata, nothing as I had imagined LOL.
Friday was a wet Day to the road to nowhere. Quite sketchy for me on 28 once traffic cleared, but everyone stayed right with me and I kept the front pointing in the direction I wanted to go. We found a really good place to eat in Bryson City called Jimmy Mac's where we had to stand out in the rain for 30 minutes before they opened. Apparently leaving at 10:00 wasn't quite late enough LOL. From there we hit the short, but very fun Road to NoWhere where we found a tunnel that seemed to go forever. It was crazy because some of us walked through it and could actually hear the people talking back at the entrance from the other side. From there it was a quick trip to Robinsville for an Ingles stop and off to the Lodge for a few more drinks.
Saturday was dry and sunny and I don't think I've ever had that clear of a run through Moonshiners. Especially for a Saturday. The road wasn't in the greatest of shape, but that did stop Inga and I from running off and having the time of my life. That chick can drive and even though her car was the wrong color, every time I looked in my rearview I couldn't help but be reminded of Jim. He was the one that was normally stuck right up under the rear of my car. We also ate at the normal pit stop, Fat Buddies and you probably know what happened as soon as we got back
Sunday we had breakfast with several peeps at Deals Gap and ran through the Dragon twice. The few people that I did catch that morning quickly sped up and moved out of my way. Epic Epic Epic run, including returning down Hell Bender. From there we did a bit of exploring around the Dam and went our separate ways. I must say, I was sad to give several of you a hug and say goodbye. I'm totally looking forward to this fall and hopefully can come up with a new route to run.

Again, great pics! It looks like everyone was having a great time. When I go in the fall, I definitely need to take some time and take some pics of the car.
Nick, great recap of your runs. As I am reading, I am thinking that sounds cool, damn, I wish I could of seen that, etc. Sounds like a lot of fun. The tunnel that never ends…lol

Looking very forward to seeing everyone again, glad we were able to make it this time. We drove through rain on the way in and out, but had nice weather the whole weekend, can't ask for much more.
As always, great friends and MANY laughs. Thanks to Michael, Nick, Gary, Evan, Shawn, Ray, Susan, Andy, Lisa, and everyone else that attended.
We picked up a screw on the other side of 129 and luckily right on 441 in Maryville we were within a few miles of a tire shop, and they actually had my 2 fronts, and got them replaced and us back on the road in under an hour. Many thinks to C&D tire and Lisa for patiently waiting with us . They took great care of my baby, and I am very particular. When I was there I explained to the sales woman that we come here twice a year and do these runs and have frequently needed tire help or replacement and get stuck. She very graciously offered to stock any sizes and types of tires we need for the cars, as long as we give her a heads up. When the next Dragon thread gets started, I will remind everyone, since we can not make the next one.
Just a few gems to leave you with...
