Very sorry all -
It is with great regret that I announce I won't be at this Dragon. My fever simply won't let go, after 4 days - and the cough (causing lack of sleep) is awful. (I won't mention the other symptoms!)

Evan and Nick will be working together to make this a great weekend for all.


There is an outside chance I MIGHT recover enough to show up early Saturday but I have given my room to Lisa and will only be able to stay thru Sunday if I can find a bed somewhere. Hope to see you all later in the weekend, but I don't really believe that will happen.

 

This is disappointing, but we will do our best to make you proud. Get well and you'll be missed.

 

Shed a tear for Jim on my behalf -
And leave some tread on the road for me, Nick.

After this announcement you think you will find somebody who will even come close to you, let alone share a room?

If you do go carry a bell, ring it while calling out "Unclean, unclean". Bring a tent and stay in the woods, arrangements can be made to drop of food I'm sure.

We're leaving tomorrow morning and taking the scenic route from Crossville, coming in from the west via the Cherohala Skyway. Should arrive at the resort in late afternoon.

Sad to hear this news after everything you have put into organizing this event and also your first time as the host of the event.
I feel your disappointment though because I missed last Spring due to a major respiratory infection.
That was the only Dragon meet I missed going all the way back to Spring 2008 which was my first time in attendance.
Hope you feel better soon and I'm sure Evan and Nick will take charge and be certain all the first timers enjoy the experience and will return for years to come.
Of course me and all the regulars who return every year will mingle and meet with the newbies as well

the Volkswagen Group, the Genesis group, and the Sierra Club, the Lodge is going to be full,

 

I remember last spring, the Volkswagen guys, pretty much had the fire pit,by the front desk, locked up the whole weekend, which may mean that we may half to find another area to have our drivers meeting , Evan ,Nick you may want to check this out, just remembering what happened last spring,

 

We will plan on having our drivers' meeting in the lower level lobby at 9PM. There is seating down there and I think that will work out best for all of us.

Mark, we will do our best to carry on without you!

Yes the lodge already notified Mark that the lobby was already occupied at least Friday night by one of the other groups for some kind of registration proceedings.
We were offered the lower lobby for our group and this should work out OK
If the weather is mild there are also doors that lead right out to the pool / patio area behind the lodge too.
