7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Lauren Janes has her fog lights in pink, her brake calipers in red and "Hello Kitty" seat covers. What do you have?
(I WILL be handing out awards, either at the Friday night meeting or at dinner Saturday after the Saturday runs. I was thinking we could get everyone together at a big table at the Grill about 5:30 or so. Last fall, I was the only award winner - presented by the North Carolina State Patrol. It is time for me to give back.)

Then it started snowing again, damnit.
Hopefully this **** will be done by the time we leave...

Had a few freak snow storms roll in. Literally nothing, then hella snow for a mile, and then nothing.
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
If ANYONE hears of someone cancelling or who would agree to share their room, I have been getting requests for "room mate" or "anyone cancelled?" info.
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Mark: I'm coming by myself for Friday and Saturday nights only... have reserved a room...don't know if there is 1 or 2 beds... would be willing to share... let me know...Carl

OK Greg i will be looking out for the long haired hippy .
I am certainly ready for this meeting, cant wait, just need some warm weather to cheer us up on the runs.
Mark the big table at the grill certainly sounds a great idea and will help to make the newbies feel part of the "family"
See y'all Thursday afternoon

More good news. The chances are good that Jeff, fastfunfor2, the proud new owner of Howard Carters very fast aero blue SRT 6 roadster will be joining us for Nick's Saturday run. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting the newbies next week end.
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Not sure if our glorious leader for this meeting Mark has mentioned to bring your walkie talkies for all the newbies, this is a good item to bring to keep in touch on the runs, not essential but very handy. It prevents anyone from getting left behind at traffic lights etc, any cheap set will do as we are always within 1/2 mile of each other.
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Sorry all. I am BURIED at work and not on my game here.
Andy is right - EVERYONE should bring these with them:
Purchase the Midland GMRS 2-Way Radio, LXT560VP3 at an always low price from Walmart.com. Save money. Live better.
About any GMRS/FRS radios will do. Some people will always forget or not get the message to buy them, so those of us who have two - please consider loaning one to someone who didn't get the message.
As Andy said, they are very helpful and just make it easier to coordinate. Also, leaders can give out alerts about what is ahead; the person at the end can let the leader know if everyone made it thru the light; rest stops can be coordinated, etc.
Also:
We are going to be in a bit of a "dry" area. If you cannot get by without a 'stiff drink" it is a good idea to bring supplies with you. There is a reasonably priced store on the Cherahala Skyway run, but other than that, I don't know.

If you're coming into Fontana Via Maryville/Knoxville there are several nice liquor stores in Maryville on US129. If you're coming through NC good luck LOL. Bryson city? maybe?
Edit:
The lodge has a bar in the main building and at the grill too.

The bar in the Lodge? I'd rather buy a set of tires every 10,000 miles than spend my money in there - that place is expensive.
(And I've done both, so I should know.)
I remember a bar maid there that I liked, I will say that.

I drank in there one night. I don't remember my martini's being that expensive.
Re: 7TH Annual Spring "Tail of the Dragon" GTG April 2014
Yea, I bet you don't remember that night at all.
You'd been drinking since we got back from our run and dinner.
You probably dont even remember how the little guy from the UFO came into our room that night and gave me the secret to women, either.
(I may have been drinking too...)

The best scotch they have is a 12 year Glen Fidditch. I wanted scotch that night, but I don't care for the 12 year Glen.
