James, yes I hope to get to St Louis Thursday night which is about a 800 mile trip from NC. Then on Friday I plan to take 70 to Kansas City then up on 29 to Lincoln Nebraska to meet up with Gary and his convoy then we all head in to Parker to stay overnight Saturday to meet up with Evan and then on to Rifle on Sunday.

HDR is only useful if you shoot in Jpeg. When you shoot in RAW you can do so much more in post processing that there usually is no need to combine 2 images to make everything look good. Usually multiple image photos are constructed for certain effects such as the Milky Way superimposed on a normal day shot.

Long exposure night shots are my favorite way to shoot. You can do so much with an awesome night shot.

Sorry Ben but I don't agree, I always shoot in raw and use HDR often with good results. This will be a good discussion over a pint one evening in Colorado.

Andrew,
I am so excited that you are coming and thrilled that you chose to join us in Lincoln, Nebraska for the remainder of this long journey you are about to make.
You are going to love the Rocky Mountains and your camera will be worn out by the end of the week taking all the photos there .

Now as far as your travel plan....
If you get all the way to St.Louis on Thursday then Friday your trip to Lincoln, Nebraska to meet us and stay the night will be a breeze
That leg of your trip on Friday is only
7 hours / 448 miles (a much easier day the Thursday)

Then Saturday will be about the same time and distance (
7 hours 33 minutes / 492 miles) to the Denver area where we will stay the night and have dinner with Evan and the locals.

Travel safely and we will contact you on Thursday night to see how your travel plan is going.

This looks like you're / our route

Just watching CNN and they had a story about a restaurant in Rifle called "Shooters" where the waitresses carry holstered guns. She said it is a way of life in Rifle, perhaps we need to stop by one day for lunch and photos with the waitresses.

You know, I was a little worried about that, me being from absolute sea level. Did RMNP today with no problem. In Winter Park for the evening...........what a beautiful place!!! Shopping and restaurants are all top notch. Doing Mt Evans tomorrow, then Golden, and then on down to Manitou Spgs for a couple of days.

Be sure to ride the COG to the top of Pike's Peak. We did that, then drove up to the top the next day.
