Well, I flew to SLC then to Grand Junction this week - then drove to Moab, UT. Just got back home last night, in fact.
From what I saw in the air, then the time I spend in Moab, I can see what "the big deal" is.

I am re-considering my "way too far for me" statement last fall.

(I mean, I flew out there and back for one day's work, so.....)
Mark,
I find that each area of the country has its own beauty. I love the Smokey's for their distinct scenery which you cannot find in the West here. Colorado and Utah have their own beauty with desert landscapes, deep canyons, and above timberline views.

Thanks to Evan!
James, great to hear that you and Tammi are coming again! If you can make it to Parker, CO, on Saturday, July 5th (south side of Denver), I'm trying to set up a group rate at a local hotel. On Sunday, July 6th, we are planning on leaving Denver early and driving up to Mt Evans first before heading to Rifle.

Probably Lincoln, Nebraska or Grand Island, Nebraska on the way out and the way back (about the halfway point for me)
Both ways being on a Friday night
.

MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

Anyone traveling with me is welcome to stay at my house on the way there and / or the way back home
