Tom,
It's called Fontana Village resort
You will have a fantastic weekend if you come along, make new friends and have some great driving in the Nc mountains. The roads are fantastic and the tail,of the dragon a twisty thrill of a ride very nearby.

Tom, it looks to be about a 9 hr drive, well worth it. I am driving 6 hrs but when you start to get close you get that buzz and can't wait to meet your buddies who share a common interest. We all make everyone welcome and you will feel right at home. It's always great to see new faces at every meeting there.
You won't regret it if you come and once bitten you will return every year for more.
Ask anyone.
Andy

Remember to tell the desk you are wishing to join "The Crossfire Group" and that you have never been there before and just heard about it.
They cut off our $79 a night rate last week, you are past the deadline. But if you tell them you are a new customer, Im' sure you'll be fine - IF they are not sold out, and they weren't as of yesterday.
Post here or PM me or VALK if you need help.

You seriously need to buy the best radar / laser detector you can find. It would certainly have saved you enough money (not to mention aggravation) to pay for itself just this year. I've been using Valentine 1 for many years and it's saved me MANY times from being "one of the chosen" to contribute to the viscous traffic enforcement for profit system that preys upon the motoring public to generate revenue. If I don't have my Valentine 1 I feel like I'm driving "blind".

I always carry cash for any 'county donation' I may have to make while at the Dragon....

Am I right Mark or did I imagine all that

I did to radar certs for 11 years, my signature is on a LOT of those important, letter-sized pieces of paper!
But I never did test any detectors... never needed one since any time I was stopped, the cop knew me and let me go. Those days are over - I'm gonna get one now.
(When I think of the number of times I was pulled over... I've had it coming for a LONG time - I knew all the cops in Michigan, too. Been working around them since 1981.)

So Marc.....ya still thinkin about this run ??
"Erzer" Red Roadster shown in the photo below

That was taken down southeast of Franklin, just a few miles before you cross into Georgia.
I went home that way once, the road continues into Georgia (well the way I did it, anyway) and traffic gets VERY light, but the curves never stop...
By looping back thru Clayton and Brasstown Bald, we could have a hellofa good run on a Saturday....
Got me thinkin'....

I am, Gary. But I'm also wondering about running behind Nick on the Triangle.
I may make up my mind based on people's preferences Friday night AND just how many cars we end up with. Once you go over 10-14 cars, it gets hard to keep everyone together, and to not overwhelm restaurants. If we have enough, I can see a saturday:
Triangle run
Skyway Run
Franklin run
The Brewry run (that IS saturday, right?)
A LONG run to Franklin, that waterfall... and then I gotta deciede how to come back to the Lodge... North GA offers several options, but it could be a long run for those wanting to do the boat ride.
thinking...

I've heard bikers preach it and preach it: "You go where your attention goes, you go where your eyes go..."

Mark I think that statement holds true for most things including car, horses. snow skiing but absolutly not for whitewater rafting. Just ask the human cork Bob.
