7th Annual Fall 2013 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 4, 5, 6
Re: 7th Annual Fall 2013 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 4, 5, 6
Thanks, I post them here to get people to go to the Dragon. (And if you want to take it easier, then there is always Pacemaker's bunch, or you can take some Dramamine and ride along with someone....) That video is taken from the back of Phil's car (SRT Coupe) looking back at ibedoughboy - I was in the lead, one car up.

Just made my reservation for Friday and Saturday. I'll have on my 4 in 1 vented styled hood made from junk. Either in primer or top coated. Squirrel Crusher

I'll just need to find something for my wife Cindy to do on Saturday. I must admit to some difficulty dealing with the continuous screaming that comes from the passenger seat. It tends to disrupt my focus and concentration.
I seem to remember a "shopping and lunch" trip planned for Saturday that attracts many of the screamer crowd?? Is that the same as the tourist class trip? We'll have our Suburban up at Fontana so Cindy can drive and take up to five other spouses along if anyone wants to ride with her . . . let me know and I'll help to coordinate that activity. E-mail me at RedDogNumber1@aol.com and we'll take reservations to fill up the Suburban . . .

Bidding war for Valk!

I just revised my post to include my e-mail address. E-mail me directly and we'll take reservations to fill up the Suburban with my wife driving for a shopping and lunch trip on Saturday . . . I'm pretty sure she'll just follow along with the tourist class run because that's basically what they do on Saturday is shopping and lunch. No sense trying to blaze a new trail . . .

Gotta step in here and defend the tourist class run with Pacemaker. Last year it was great. He had scouted out challenging back roads with great area views, and lunch provided a (very) short time to drop into shops hosting an area artist festival. It was wonderful fun. My daughter who was with me told me she was getting nauseous on some of the twists and turns. As Valk likes to say, something for everyone.
I am sorry to be missing the event this year - but I will be thinking of all of you enjoying the experience.....

I dont think ANYONE should ride as a passenger in those mountains without Dramamine.
And I caution people to label Pacemaker's group "the tourist class", but NOT "the slow group".
They aren't SLOW, Harleys on the Dragon are slow, Pacemaker and friends are not SLOW.
Sorry to hear you won't make it Alicia. You and your daughter were very pleasant people to keep company with.

Count me in on the Devil's Triangle run for Saturday! Don't let my age mislead you . . . I used to race Corvettes with the SCCA. My GOD could that have been 40+ years ago?? Oh well, as the saying goes I may not be as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was . . .

Hay for you all that are going with us over to Maggie Valley ,this is not going to be one those Ball,s to wall,s run so if you need speed you may need to rethink , or you can run and I can meet you there , now there is a few spots I like running a little hard on the way back in spots , I more look at this as bunch of friends going on a adventure, , once I get to Fontana I will seek out the maps at desk and give are route out to who ever one that would like to go along , Thanks

Ricky and I had planned on going to the Fall Dragon but that's the same weekend our granddaughters will be out of school for Fall Break. We had already promised them a trip to Gatlinburg. Maybe next time!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe trip!

Re: 7th Annual Fall 2013 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 4, 5, 6
This is my first time. My wife and I will be driving up Friday the 4th. My general plan was to wait until we get there and see what there is to do, but it seems a lot of the things need to be booked in advance and the veterans have taken up all the slots. Is there a list of activities, or a schedule of events that the group is taking part in? I saw where someone mentioned a lake cruise, but all the seats were taken? I never been on this side of the mountains so I don't know what I am getting in to.
I am really looking forward to this trip, and I want my wife to enjoy it too. (To her a car is just something to get you from point a to point b). I love my car and the mountains. She loves the beach. We are spending a week at Perdido Key in September, so she says this is my trip, whatever I want. (you guys know what that means).
Any help would be appreciated.
