I am representing CICCI on behalf of Michigan members and all who attend the WDC

 

Gary you are an excellent choice for sure and would represent XF owners well, but you jumped the gun.

Michigan owners didn't have a chance to even see the post or respond.

There are owners who would also be an excellent choice and they live in Michigan. MI1XFIRE comes to mind, especially with his Crossfire page:

Also Rob/NeedsWings would be another good choice. I'd think there are a couple more.
That's why I posted that I have a list and that I wasn't interested in being interviewed, I'm not the best choice no doubt about that! LOL
Anyway she's a big girl and will reach out tomorrow.

 

My guess is that Michigan owners would be good, because it is a Michigan paper, but I think it would be a better story about everyone and the 30 strong WDC attendees from all over North America for the last 4-5 years.

I am wondering if some of the other clubs only have members from Michigan showing up at WDC, and she doesn't realize that we crazies travel far and wide

Either way, it will be nice to be recognized.

Like any other local media the Detroit News prefers to cover the home connection, it's also easier to get a story locally with a deadline for print on the day of the cruise. Plus, the News is mostly sold to the locals, that's their audience.
With that being said, I have no doubt that Valk will represent all of us well. The WDC is no longer a local event.

UPDATE

I spoke with Lauren today and referred a few Michigan residents in which I had email and phone numbers for her to contact.
She has been is contact with these people and if any other Michigan residents wish to contact her send an email to: razzaq@detroitnews.com

My intention was not to "jump the gun" as Rapps said.
My intention was to be sure contact was made quickly and that we got on the radar so to speak for a mention in her article / story.

Her initial contact was on the CICCI Facebook page and being a CICCI member and past president I felt qualified to make contact by email as soon as I became aware of her interest.

The end result is our story will be made available online hopefully by this weekend and I will be posting a link here for all to read.

Sounds like this all worked out so that our little cars will be the Chrysler modern classic feature, what Valk said is true the FB CICCI page isn't used by members enough to of had the post noticed. While we're at it thank you Tony for bringing attention to it. There was another article back in 08 or 09 with the same theme. Maybe one day it won't be a modern classic but just a classic
I'll need to give the Friday evening restaurant a finial head count next week if you haven't do so already please post/let Valk know if you will be there 7pm approx 5 miles from the hotel on the same road. We need to know how many to reserve for as well.
Drive safely and do note Michigan roads are pretty hungry; they eat rims/wheels daily. Many highways have been repaved but one member had to buy new wheels locally in order to get home as 2 got cracked. Assume the road is crappy and filled with holes.

By my loose count Friday dinner head count is approx at 27 plus 3 that I would guess haven't yet responded.
The space holds 45 people. It looks like we will not go over but it helps to be able to give an accurate count by Monday.
