I made flyers up from the first post in this thread and put them under the wipers of Crossfires I see, whether I am around home OR on the road.

I have a recommendation - if you have never come to a Dragon before (and even if you have):
1) Go to Walmart, Best Buy or Sams' Club
2) Look for "FRS Radios"
3) Buy one (or better yet, a set of two. Even better - a set of four)
4) Get four extra batteries for each radio you buy
5) Be willing to share with someone who did not read this post!
6) Go back and get four more extra batteries
Or... go here: https://www.google.com/#q=FRS+radios...w=1760&bih=813
Any Portable FRS radio will work, some better than others - but any radio is better than NO radio.
I expect to lead a group, so I intend to bring at least two (so that at least I and my last car have one - but truth is, sometimes we need better range than these radios give, so we need one or more cars in the middle to relay, at times, especially in a LONG line of cars and with over 60 cars - we may have some long convoys.)
You will know more what is going on (usually) and can get answer to questions faster and hear crazy comments as we roll along!
Also, the leader and last car need to be able to communicate so that we know all cars got thru the light !!!! (This way, we know enough to wait up if someone got caught by a fast light).
Radios are probably the most common, "Wish I had thought of that" item at the Dragon.
You can usually buy batteries at the 'Gap or in Robbinsville - most of these use AA batteries - but you'll pay less at WalMart or Radio Shack.
MY personal opinion is that rechargeable batteries and chargers are a waste of money for those who don't use the radios a lot, if anyone was going to ask.
But it's up to you.

Found these brand new Cobra MicroTalk FRS radio value pack sets available on E-Bay. Only $15.90 with FREE shipping. This is exactly the same set that I bought many years ago (but I paid alot more). Mine are still working great. It costs about this much just to buy new rechargable batteries! This value pack set would be a recommended buy . . .

The journey is part of the experience, I will savor every minute of my 5 1/2 hour trip.

I can say the same for my less-than-3 hour trip, but I'll be zipping along with at least a few Genesis Coupe and hopefully a few Crossfires - joining them about 6 miles from home for the ride up.
And thanks again Alicia for your tutorial thread
List of stuff to do:
Front End alignment
New Steering Stabilizer
Oil change
MAJOR Detail
Replace Oil Gauge
Invent/Install Brake temperature monitor
Add EGR indicator and cutout switch
List of stuff done:
Modify Nav Head for FRS radio
Who knew I had so much to do in less than 3 weeks!

Just a hop, skip, and a jump for you locals. I don't mind my 1400 mile journey as I get to see relatives along the way.

The inside jokes from the Dragon have started and we aren't even there yet.

Outstanding, Doc! Thank you very much.
So when are you coming in? I'm planning on showing up Thursday night and leaving Monday. If you're doing Friday through Sunday, I can sort out my own arrangements for the two other nights.

If I come as Beetlejuice (in full makeup and costume) you should do this dance for us.

Coming in Friday, leaving Sunday...if they didn't cancel my room for Sunday, I will keep it and leave Monday morning. I will call them to find out.

Gaia and I are leaving Wednesday night and plan on taking our leisurely time, arriving Friday afternoon. We will try and behave ourselves this year as last year I recall doing 120mph on I-75, south of Cincinnati along with an Audi A6 and Cadillac EVOQ with Gaia yelling out...."can't you go any faster??!!!!" ...unbelievable....
