They Howard, it was great meeting you finally. Sorry I missed running with you guys. I ran down to the lower part of the dam for a minute, and when I got back, you guys had already left. I still had a great day in the mountains with the group that went to Franklin.

It was a wonderful weekend, and I enjoyed talking to everyone there.

We made it back safe with only a slight delay due to the titans football traffic.

It wa great seeing every buddy, old and new friends.
Big KUDOS to Gary and Dan for putting together a great Dragon!

Special thanks to Rudy for the switch, Rob for his help with the CAI filter and James for a great sticker.

Every body be safe getting home and hope to see many of you at the next CAA and if not, the Fall 2011 Dragon!!!

OK Rudy and I made it back to the land of two seasons. Thirteen hours of driving but more than worth the price of admission. I can't thank all of you enough for the friendship and time together ~ these meets are AWESOME!

Steve you are a lucky man, tell Chris that she can ride in my car anytime. I've never known a women so enthused to go for a ride. When she said she wasn't a "girl" and she wanted to go fast, she wasn't kidding. I'll never forget the "squeal" or the look on your face when we pulled up and "She" was driving... "PRICELESS"

For all those who didn't make it down; well you missed one Hell of an event. This weekend was absolutely the best time I've ever had driving. Tom you are an awesome driver, it was an absolute honor to run with you in the advanced group! For anyone that doesn't know Tom - stay the Hell out of his way 'cause he'll drive you right off the mountain!

Jim "Big Kid" thank you for the awesome tolerance! You had to ride behind the yellow Beast all day so I know you must be deaf! I can't wait to get together again ~ So let's make it soon!

AMX Jim; it was great to finally meet you. After all of the phone conversations it is great to be able to put a face with the name and voice. We'll be talking soon and safe travels back to Florida - keep a place ready for me; it's too Damn cold here in Wisconsin!

Boiler - I couldn't find you and Molly for the ride this morning but I will make arrangements for an exclusive ride for you both soon. If it makes you feel any better when I took Gary for a ride this morning he got out of the car shaking! - LOL!

Vince "Never Enough" thank you for sharing a room with me. You were great to hang out with. You probably should get a "Purple Heart" along with Rudy for being able to put up with me! - LOL! I am looking forward to getting together real soon since you are so close. And I can't thank you enough for your service to this country ~ you ROCK!

Max - I can see coming to drag you to the Dragon could become an annual event. I can't thank you, Tina and Ole Doc enough for all of your hospitality. And where the Hell is my OIL?!?!

Oh and one more thing; I think the "FrankenFire" surprised a few folks this weekend but we proved it's "REAL"! "Yellow" is still the fastest but not fast enough for me. Yes I'm a greedy pig and I've already told Rudy and Rob that it's not fast enough! So there WILL be more to come!

Thanks to all for the outstanding weekend! And Gary you've outdone yourself; this was the greatest Crossfire event EVER! Is it September 30th 2011 yet? I think I need to start packing now!

All stay safe and I can't wait until the next one...

Respectfully,

Paul (MisterTaz)

had a great weekend. we got home around 9:15 last night after stopping in gatlinburg and a couple of other places. I can think of only two bad things that happened, and they weren't even that bad. The rain that was encountered on the sunday drive to cherokee, and then getting stuck behind Capt. Slow in the red mini van coming down the mountain in to gatlinburg, those who were following me know what I'm talking about. Thanks again Gary for organizing another great gtg. hope everyone makes it home safe without any incident.

"ATTITUDES CREATE ATMOSPHERES". We had a GREAT time with GREAT people in a GREAT place. Thanks again Gary and Dan for the organizational skills and setting the tone for the weekend with your (always) GREAT attitude! Thanks too to Nick (Gryfan) for the FREE T-shirts, and to so many others for being GREAT company this weekend. Now I know how to play Eucher...

Myletia & I made it back Sunday afternoon. Only casualty, 1 cracked windshield. We managed to make it from the lodge to the stoplight in Maryville with only 1 car ever being behind us. I think that was Kim (yellow roadster) and I apologize for slowing her down...
Thanks to Gary and everybody that made this great event possible. Thanks to James for the decal. Thanks to the cooks for the tasty, burnt bubba burgers. A special thanks to all the crossfire owners in attendance for proving to my wife that washing the bugs off your car after every trip, always finding new parts to add on to the car, and the love of just driving the car is not crazy. It's normal.

Paul, it was a blast meeting you sir. I'm going to try to make some of the midwest meets before too long... I'll be needing a ride in that thing.

Glad you made it back safely!

We're still driving home clear weather and roads all good. We've attended the TOD in the past all I can say is they get better and better; we had a great time the Sunday run into the rain cloud was our highlight and the side show seeing the lady slide down the falls was priceless. Staying over to Monday is a must. Vince, Jason, Kyle a pleasure to meet each of you, Scott and Nick despite what I wrote on the bathroom walls we enjoyed hanging with you.
Max …thank you. I came pretty darn close to a ticket just over the Mi. state line tonight, 90 in the 70 mph area. He pulled out, my heart sank and I told Gary I was pretty sure I just picked up a ticket. But he passed me up and tagged an older guy. Your CAI does the trick, my little yellow button flies well at high speeds.
On a personal note, I'm thankful we are all safe and will be together again destroying more of the Ozone layer in the years to come. Ann & Gary

Mostly on a personal note, I'm thankful we are all safe and will be together again for more destroying of the ozon layer in the years to come. Ann. Oh and Paul, Kim, Judy and I discussed it and it's true Classic yellow is the best color.
Anne, I look forward to next season when we can all get together again.

I arrived on Thursday exhausted from the long day. Friday Evan took a ride with me through the dragon and back. (which pictures are already up from Friday) Washed the cars and then I hopped in Evan's passenger seat to head out 28 only to run into Bob and his screaming SRT-6... Seriously when he steps on the gas it screams lol. The rest of that night is just a blur of meeting people and gazing at the 5.5 liter V8 Rudy shoved into the yellow crossfire.
Saturday was parking day. It really reminded me of being back in High School helping park cars to raise money for one organization or another. Anyway back on topic, somehow Kim and I managed to park all 75 Crossfires without pulling our hair out. Basically another meet and greet until we split and went our separate ways for the day. I went with Dan on the Franklin run. It was much better this past spring when it was just Dan, James, Gary and myself tearing it up. We also didn't have to deal with the "Trike" Phenomenon. I'll never understand why someone would want one of those, much less spend what they spend on them. After the Franklin run we hit the Dragon only to find Jason and Kyle on the North side of the hill without brakes. So what did we do??? We followed them back through the dragon. Of course I got bored 1 mile in, so I radioed back to rvd4now to pull off at the first look out and we'll get some space so we can rip through it at a proper pace. That night rvd4now popped his Dragon cherry and slayed the beast. and even though Jason and Kyle told us to continue on after passing I still felt bad for leaving them out in the woods. If I had only known that later that night we would find out that they were just fine since the magical Apple iPad showed Kyle was actually an angry Gorilla, and apparently I work for the Russian QVC network. (Funny story for another time)

Sunday was the day I received my annual Dragon nickname. Spring it was Ruth, this fall it's Bob for the way I bobbed on the river every time I was bounced out of the raft. Troy, Troy's gf, Kim, Dan, Jane, and I are bonded for life now after risking life and limb on those raging ice cold rapids. The water was so cold we actually drifted by an iceberg and a few penguins. Then afterwards a 1.5 hour trip through the dragon with Troy for fuel and fun ended up taking us 3. But we did manage to conquer a dark and wet dragon.

It's over now, I took one last flying lap through the dragon waiting a full 6 minutes and 15 seconds before the rest of the group caught up. Then another 20 minutes for Ms. Gump to catch up. This is a Dragon I will not forget. Thank you everyone who took part in it.

I call this pick, waiting for Ms. Gump

Made it home about 7:30cst and unpacked all the stuff from the car.
I'll sum up the weekend tomorrow in a separate post and upload all my pics.
I'm dead tired after a weekend of very little sleep, tons of fun and a 12 hour trip home.
Thanks everyone for coming and making this GTG the biggest and best ever !!

Gary

Dragon slayers arriving home... Roll-call and highlights!!

I am sure I speak for about 100 people when I say,

THANK YOU GARY for putting this together. A total success.

And thanks to those who helped you - I know there were several, but the fact is, it was mostly you who did the footwork, the calling the lodge time and time again, and all the other effort you put forth that most of us have no idea went into making this happen.

And Mark, it was interesting spending the first 10 or so minutes talking to each other before we realized who each other was. I will have to say..... You don't look anything like the pic in your avatar. LOL

Made it back home safe and sound. Left a Subaru feeling embarassed in Kentucky after a ricer fly by. Angered a grumpy old man who though it was cool to cut off semi trucks; great cruise control we have. Gary, Ann, Lisa, Frank, Vince, Nick, John and Molly, Scott, Dan, Jane, Kim and all the others from this weekend thank you for making this a highlight of this year. I know I have left names out and I apologize, we met so many wonderful people and look forward making more Crossfire GTGs. This was our first TOD and has become the first of many. We look forward to seeing everyone again.
