Default Biltmore Estates

Dennis (Naughteven) went with me and another couple last fall...so much to see I would not want to be on a short time frame and miss seeing everythink...a lot of walking. three flights up and down then the basement...that didn't include the wine tasting...another building. we rented the cd headphones and you can listen to details of each bedroom and unless you are just going to run through the place to see it I think it was a good 3 hours inside the house and I never made it to the basement...the best part..that is where all the cooking and laundry and action was, lighted in ground pool..wear really good shoes. Got lost coming home and Dennis slept while I drove the mountains in the dark...gps was set for shortest distance wow, that is why we didn't get back until 11pm. Just another great adventure..

Hey Everyone: Yes, Jane is not keeping up well with the forum. However, my name was recently mentioned. It was not me who drove to the Biltmore. If there is a group going on Saturday, I would give it some thought and go along with the group.

I look forward to seeing everyone and meeting so many new people that are coming. I'm getting my car detailed and will torque my nuts before leaving. I'll be coming in late Thursday; looking forward to doing the Tail in the dark - the best way to do it.

See ya,

Jane

Nice drive up the Dragon today, nobody in front of me till the end. Roads obviously very wet with very little dropped leaves. Because of the rain, I made sure I went slow but did notice a number of new pull-offs with newer asphalt. I know the LEO that got me was sitting on an area laid this year from the looks of it.

Temps on the drive were a steady 66ish the whole day with a good amount of rain. We did notice one area with a big patch of fall colors, so hopefully this cold front brings some good color change in wider areas.

Get antsy folks, you only have a few more days till you start making your way here.

Erzer, how are those new Conti DWS tires working on the Dragon?

They held up pretty darned good, but I only had the first day where I was a bit aggressive and today was raining, so didn't want to push it. These are the same ones I had a Gateway, and they held really well there, so now we'll see how long they hold up.

I'm glad to hear all the great remarks about the DWS's because I'm gonna put them on my N/A in a month or so.

This will be my first Dragon with them. I am tired of the General UHPs wearing out after 11,000 miles...

I'm curious to see how the new V12's work out too. Ran the hell out of a few sets of Nankang's and loved them but they don't make them in the sizes I needed this time around. They do ride a little nicer down the highway but the dragon is about as much of a highway as Janet Reno is a calendar chick...or a chick for that matter at all. LOL

Yay... I just put Generals on back before Christmas. I barely got 20K out of the original Conti's. Good thing we only put about 7K a year on ours.

My Hankook V12's were broken in at the Dragon back in the Spring and I'll tell ya I LOVE THEM.....have I mentioned that here before..LOL
11000 miles this summer alone and they still ride smooth and quiet and look almost new.
See for yourself this coming weekend.

Getting pumped for this one....The biggest Crossfire GTG in history is about to begin !!!

exactly, don't want anyone wrecking on the way in and having to miss out. Also, it would suck to have to see a piece of a Crossfire on the Tree of Shame.

Holy crap Evan, mine rears held up to about 25k...you might want to consider investing in a tire company they way you must drive

Still, I have extra 18's and plan to move my DWS 18's to the back and use my older UHP's 18's on the front. I have a pickup truck for most of my winter driving, but in the off chance we get a snow shower while I've got the XF at work, I want those DWS's on the rear.

Back to the Dragon. Seems like we had rain most of the night and pretty heavy at times this morning, so we slept in and are being lazy. The rain stopped about 15 mins ago and the clouds have most of the valley socked in; I can barely can only see the first set of trees at the edge of the property. However, they seem to be moving pretty good and looking at Intellicast, it looks like only a couple of narrow bands coming through with the West and South looking very clear.

Off to Walhalla SC tomorrow via Moonshiner and some other side roads on the way back. I'll try to give a foliage report Wed...not that it will matter much as many of you will be preping to leave come Thurs!

Be safe everyone and remember to watch out for the LEO's especially those of you coming in on Friday...oh and remember the Scion's will be running around too.

I'll keep checking, but it doesn't sound like they will have any open up.
