Gary, thanks again for all the effort you're putting into this. It would not be the same without someone taking the initiative and effort to ensure this is all going smoothly. I know Kim and I can't wait to get up there and meet everyone.

OK, Rapp's, I will buy you a beer, but you should put the Approved citrus fruit in it, not wimp out with an orange or similar.

Then it will be YOUR turn to get a beer for ME. And so on......

I have arranged with US129photos.com to be at the Fontana Dam by 9:00am for our arrival for all the professional photos.

I want to be sure we have EVERYONE there for the group pic and allow enough time for anyone who wants professional photos taken of just their car with or without them it it

I have made arrangements with the park ranger to have the parking lot across the Dam from the visitors center reserved for our group exclusively.

I will have maps of both Saturday and Sunday routes with route directions to pass out to ALL drivers at the lodge on Friday night in the lobby at 9pm when I ask that everyone be present for a short drivers meeting.
Damm Gary. We are going to have more fun than a tornado in a trailer park next week.
Getting anxious.

I feel like a little boy at church, standing on one leg and then another waiting for the time to pass so I can go play.

Well, hopefully the car should be running right by tomorrow and I have a possible source for a pair of used tires to put on my rear wheels to get me through. If all goes well, I'll still make it to the lodge on friday afternoon.

What are we doing in the afternoon?

This route we found by accident last fall. It is LOTS of fun. Plenty of curves and decent speed limits (45-55).

N Carolina 28 N/US-19 S/US-74 W/Great Smoky Mountains Expy to Harrison Ave - Google Maps

A run up to Dillsboro after this is nice as well. Nice little town with touristy types of things.

They actually take about 4 hours each and make a pretty full day really once you stop for lunch and scenic overlooks.
Look at the Mapquest links.

Seriously....we have made these runs in the past and ya spend most of the day doing them.

On Saturday we don't even start the run until 11:30 (after the photos at the Dam etc) and usually take at least an hour in Robbinsville for lunch.
Usually arrive back at the lodge around 5 for the BBQ at 6

Sunday we leave around 10am after some Dragon runs and head to Cherokee again about an hour for lunch and then through the Smokies and back around through the Dragon again and back to the lodge around 4pm

where did you get the picture of Tim Horton , our prime minister, Wayne Gretzsky, our leader of the opposition, and Dudly Duright, our head of the Royal Mounted Police? next you will show our row boat, and the one piper cub, that represents our navy and air force!

Can't wait Valk. I would like to join your convoy but I'll already be in NC visiting the new granddaughter in Fayetteville, so I'll be comming in from the east about 4.5 hours away on Friday afternoon.

Revisiting the maps this might be another option to tie the run you have suggested to the current planned route on Sunday.

Driving Directions from 398 Woods Rd Fontana Dam, North Carolina to 398 Woods Rd Fontana Dam, North Carolina

Looks like a good run to me Gary. We may have to start a bit earlier on Sunday (which I'm all for).
