Weather has been fairly dry around here now for a couple of weeks and is predicted to be the same for the next couple of weeks. So leaves may start turning a little earlier than normal. Most websites that monitor fall folliage still say that early October will be the peak viewing in the Smokies and along BRP. So we could hit it about right - maybe on the front end of peak color.

I just called the lodge and was able to get a room booked. Not at the group rate, but it is booked. So I will be at the GTG, this will be my first GTG and my first time at the Dragon!

I have a room for Friday and Saturday night. I am hoping to join with the convoy, but I will have to leave my hour between 5 and 6 AM to get to Florence by 8...mmm, Red Bull sure is tasty...

look like we are up to 73 crossfire , with a sure 72 showing up . what great time this is going be , just keep in mind to be safe on road , we like to see everbody get there and get home ok , susan and i are looking forward to meeting everybody , this will be are six dragon meet . we had are crossfire 5 yrs , and been some of best time with it has been at the dragon meeting some great people from all over , and to valk thanks for keeping this great meet going , SEE YOU WITH THE WING UP AT THE DRAGON RAY (OSOFAST2 )

Jason, If you have a few extra bucks, come down to Florence on Thursday eve and stay the night. Be fresh in the AM. More time to meet everyone.

I might come down for Thursday night. I can leave from Columbus, IN which is about 2 hours out. Which means up at 5, out of the door by 6. Plus its always good to share a cup of coffee with the parents.

 

We have a 2 bed room cabin. One room is a queen other 2 twins. The cost is $115 with a AAA discount if I remember right, $125 or so without. Currently the extra room is empty.
I'm not interested in sharing/bunking with anyone other than the guy I married *
If there is someone with a room in the lodge that wants to switch (it's cheaper to split the cost of the cabin with 1-2 others) send me PM. It would make 2 more beds available for late attendees.

 

Gary, I will also be with the group.

 

Finished up my primping on the exterior this weekend. Car is detailed inside & out now! Covered it up so it would be 'fresh & shiny' when we leave on Friday, October 1st for Fontana Dam. Still considering taking Moonshiner 28 all the way to the lodge. Sorta the 'scenic' route to our GTG.

Gary: On your FRS radios are there certain channels that you use, are do you assign them when we get there. It might be nice to have a channel to monitor while we are on the way in case we run into other Crossfires.

We are boarding the puppies just off exit 104 on Friday morning and will be heading to the Dragon from there. Just not sure of the time. This year my wife is coming along and you guys travel just a little to fast for us. (her).

A little advice to first time convoy travelers (which I was last year)
Be sure you have a good 2-way radio and DON'T ever be the last in line...
