Texas Motor Speedway - Running of the Xfires II - Sept. 26th
Re: Texas Motor Speedway - Running of the Xfires II - Sept. 26th
Hey gang,
Finally got some time to get on and post. I see the Political Forum veered left again while I was gone. Can't turn my back on them liberals for a moment.
As to the weekend, first rate work by the DFW group. Good eats, good activities and good friends to enjoy. I had a blast from the moment I left my driveway on Thursday untill I got back on Sunday.
Dan, don't worry about the slow speeds on the track. Jane and I behaved all the way down so we could get there without getting arrested. But after the slow track speeds what the heck. (Jane, at the risk of getting you in trouble) On the way home we hit a stretch of road in one of those states that puts a wall up on either side of the highway, kinda like the race track. For thirty or so miles we didn't go under 90. Better'n anything we could do on three laps of the TMS.
All for only two bucks each, and with no pace car or truck to get in the way. Whooh Hoo!
All and all, from Thursday to Sunday, about the most fun I could have with my pants on.
Thanks again DFW Group for hosting such a bunch of sick twisted freaks.
And to Eeric....First rate pal. Job well done.

Hi All,
Helena and I would like to thank Eric for all he did for us all this weekend. Also the DFW group for hosting the event.
From Fri. night sitting around the pool till 1pm. with some other out of towners just shooting the breeze, till Sunday when we drove back to OKC we had a blast.
Seeing all my old friends from Texas, and meeting so many new ones from all over was great. The TMS tour, the Laps and and the party afterward will not be forgotten.
I took a quick count at the track right before we ran,and counted 2 rows of 17 cars, and 1 row of 6.
Did any other group have more? I think not.
On top of all that, Sat. was my 65th birthday.

Thank you so much for all of that "Big Texas Hospitality" and a wonderful time with old and new friends. It was definitely worth the trip. I want to add my personal thanks to Eric also....he and his people really went above and beyond to make it a great weekend.
I arrived home at 9:30pm last night, 1105 miles in 15hrs 47min, stopping 3 times for gas. Hope everyone else made it home safely as well. Give me a couple of days to catch up and then we can start planning something else!!!!

I was truly pleasured by the magnificant showing of all the Crossfires and their beholders.
Gary flying in with his Exchange Student houseguest Victor, Danimal running 2500 miles, Itsky from Mile High Colorado, Missourians, Okies, Indianians, Illinoisians, Texians of many varieties, DFW'rs, Houstonians, CTG Hill Country bumpkins, wives, girlfriends, significant others, a show girl doing the Char-Char-Cha-cha. Dr Jane with her soothing medical kit of Chocolate plasters, Mothers with dogs, fathers with sons and Grampa Moses with his Grandson. Everyone had a hand in the success, if only by being there. ERIC, you did yourself, your Company ACCOR, the Crossfires and your new Motel 6 Proud. I'm gled you were able to set the closed circuit record around the parking lot in my SRT6. I promised you the ride in June. Char, you did a wonderful job on the Poppers, there were no after burners in the 6 I ate. Dan, (Inferno) you were the workhorse, Organizer, Cook, surveyor,
parking lot attendant, and escort of Da Bears. Although the Speed was not up to expectations, there are very few places a person can drive on a 24 degree banked track.
Perhaps Franc and Jane can map out the Jersey Bounce section of the unnamed toll road.
Food was great, camraderie was terrific, lies, tales and jokes should have been caught on tape.
I want to especially thank mi esposa Eileen for keeping me awake on the road trip, and my Granson Jason Penz, who was born in Germany at the time of the Chernobyl incident and suffers from the allout. He had only driven the Crossfire 30 miles before undertaking the 600 mile round trip on strange roads and then driving the track. He was as proud as a two
P*****D Billy Goat. Now he can Goat-Gloat over his brothers. Once a Marine, Always a Marine!! Picture Takers, Salad Makers, Cooks and Bakers, all these and many more were gladly embraced by the DFW Texian Hosts. Thanks to all.
Dan, when I started the thread for this meet, I did not mean to shove it off on you, but you caught the ball and ran for a touchdown and a 2 point play. Ya done good kid.

Running Of The Crossfires Ii - 05-12-2009 , 08:06 PM

Never too early to plan. The Texas Motor Speedway next Children's Charities event for 2009 is scheduled for 26 September at the TMS. Let's shoot for 50 cars in Sept. Make your plans now and keep checking for updates. Infernoredxfire, nominate you to honcho this as you did such an outstanding job for the 9 May event. We certainly have to get more Crossfires than SMART Cars. heehee

IS THERE A LIST OF THE ATTENDEES?
Thanks Gary for driving my SRT6 the 2nd round, I was able to use TWO hands on the camera this time. BTW, I didn't see Eric in front of me this time.

Re: Texas Motor Speedway - Running of the Xfires II - Sept. 26th
Have not driven the xFire since Saturday, but while in the garage tonight I noticed two flat tires, both on the drivers side. Took them off to find a little pin hole on each. No nail, nothing. Thanking my lucky stars that it did not happen while out all day Saturday enyoying the festivities.

Victor doing his manly stance with Danimal in Victory Lane. Very cool!
